Five soldiers handled my sister. Two of them kept guns pressed to her head, one of them chanted with the giant iron cuffs in his hands, and the other two held her by the arms. As soon as the cuffs clicked in place, their smell made my stomach turn. They were heavily spelled and the soldier just activated them.
Izzy kept her eyes on me the entire time, looking at me like she hated me more than anything else in the world. I kept her gaze, trying to prove both to myself and to her that I was proud of what I'd done, that I didn't feel guilty. That I didn't need to feel guilty. She'd made her own choices, chosen her own path, and now she would face the consequences.
"You will pay for this, dog!" she spit my way, but she no longer scared me.
But when the witch soldier turned to me with a paid of identical cuffs, I admit I shivered a bit.
"No, no—I'm the one who called you here to catch her," I said, raising my arms to show them that I wasn't armed.
