Even though Cain Marko heard Parker Robbins' urgent warning, it was already too late.
His body had slammed solidly into the purple energy wall.
In the next instant—
Red and violet forces collided violently.
The already fractured violet barrier shattered into fragments.
Just as Marko prepared to press forward—
A pair of glowing violet eyes locked onto him.
An unprecedented sense of danger flooded his mind. A chilling fear—something he had never experienced before—spread through his entire body.
The world before him suddenly turned purple.
Before he could react—
A massive fist, radiating violet energy, smashed into him.
Boom!
Marko was sent flying over ten meters. When he tried to brace himself, his boots carved two long trenches into the floor.
"I didn't expect even his family to possess this kind of power," Robbins muttered, appearing beside Marko.
His expression was tense.
"Cain, this is our chance—let's retreat!"
But Marko let out a low growl and ignored him.
Heavy footsteps pounded against the ground as he charged again.
The farther he ran, the brighter the red glow around his body became. His aura surged rapidly.
His muscles trembled violently—
Then expanded.
His height swelled from over two meters to nearly five, towering like a small mountain.
"Die."
Carrie's voice echoed from within the violet energy cocoon surrounding her.
The ground beneath them cracked apart.
Violet energy erupted, forming countless weapon-like constructs that shot toward Marko.
He roared and swung his arm, smashing the incoming constructs into fragments.
But before he could advance further—
His body froze.
Something bound him.
At that moment, two arm-thick beams of red electrical energy shot past him and struck the violet cocoon.
Yet the beams were swallowed instantly—
Like steel rods plunged into molten lava, disappearing without even a ripple.
Robbins' heart sank.
Those blasts were already his maximum output.
Meanwhile, more violet tendrils coiled around Marko's body, binding him tighter and tighter—like wrapping a dumpling.
He roared and struggled, but the restraints only tightened further.
Even his massive arms—thicker than an average man's waist—began to buckle inward under the crushing pressure.
Robbins attempted to intervene—
But additional violet tendrils lashed out and bound him as well.
No matter how Marko struggled, it was useless.
"Stop shouting—call the Lord!" Robbins snapped.
He began chanting in an unknown language.
Marko's eyes suddenly flared red.
In that instant—
Everything froze.
The crying and praying survivors.
Spilled liquids from shattered goods.
Even drifting dust.
Time seemed suspended.
Two figures stepped out from rippling distortions in space.
One wore a refined British overcoat—middle-aged, composed.
The other was a tall, broad-shouldered red-haired man clad in crimson leather.
As soon as they appeared, they saw their bound subordinates.
Cyttorak was about to curse them as useless—
But his gaze lifted toward the violet cocoon surrounding Carrie.
He frowned.
"This energy… does not belong to Earth."
Mephisto's expression was equally serious.
"Doesn't it feel familiar?"
Cyttorak nodded slowly.
"Yes. It resembles… that being."
"But isn't she supposed to be Lucas's family?" Cyttorak asked.
"I'm certain of one thing," Mephisto replied. "Robbins may be foolish, but he wouldn't attack without confirming her identity."
He paused.
Then waved dismissively.
"Forget it. I'm leaving. Solve this yourself."
Without another glance at Robbins, Mephisto vanished back into space.
"Cowardly snake!"
Cyttorak spat in frustration.
Then he turned toward Marko.
"If it were anyone else, I might abandon them. But you are too fine a vessel to lose."
His body became translucent—
Then transformed into a streak of crimson light that shot toward Marko.
The violet tendrils reacted instantly, attempting to intercept—
But the red light momentarily froze space itself and slipped past them.
When it merged with Marko's body—
Scarlet runes erupted across his skin.
Boom—
Flames ignited from the countless symbols.
Marko's skin turned completely red.
His eyes burned like twin infernos.
His body swelled again—
Nearly seven meters tall.
"ROAR!"
Veins bulged across his arms as he strained violently.
With a thunderous surge—
The violet restraints stretched like rubber bands under overwhelming force.
Then snapped.
Marko twisted free.
He stomped the ground—
The floor cratered beneath him.
And he shot forward like a cannon shell.
Now possessed by Cyttorak, his punch twisted the surrounding air into visible spirals.
The blow slammed into the violet cocoon.
Shockwaves rippled across its surface.
Marko grinned savagely.
He placed both hands against the cocoon and laughed madly.
Muscles surged—
And he tore a crack into the energy shell.
The moment he saw the fracture, greed flashed across his face like a bear discovering honey.
With another roar, he thrust both hands into the opening.
Silently—
The violet cocoon split apart.
He could now see Carrie inside, curled within.
"Got you," he growled, smiling cruelly.
But sometimes—
Things do not unfold as you expect.
And more often than not—
They unfold in precisely the opposite direction.
