Chapter 108: Moving On
The nearby servants who had been passing by froze mid step, their eyes widening in shock.
A low murmur of commotion spread through the corridor, maids and footmen pausing to glance at the pair, their curiosity piqued by the bold proposal.
Hannah's cheeks warmed, and she gently extricated her arm from his grasp, her tone kind but firm.
"Elias, you are a dear friend, and I cherish your company," she said softly.
"But I cannot accept your proposal. My focus now lies with Gorthmorde, with my duties as heir, and with the journey ahead of me. I hope you can understand."
Elias's face fell, but he quickly perked up again, his usual optimism returning.
"I understand! I shall wait! I will prove my worth to you, I promise! I will learn swordsmanship, master magic, do anything to be worthy of the future Duchess of Gorthmorde!"
His earnest declaration only fueled the growing commotion, and Hannah smiled politely, eager to escape the curious stares.
