Chapter 18 - Chapter 17 – A Name That Spreads

The fort was quiet after the battle.

Not peaceful—but heavy.

The wounded were being treated, weapons cleaned, and broken gates temporarily repaired. The smell of blood and rain still lingered in the air. Kael walked through the courtyard, watching his people work. They were tired, shaken, but alive.

They had survived.

Ryn sat on a broken crate, wrapping his arm with cloth.

"You know this changes everything, right?"

Kael nodded.

"The king won't ignore us anymore."

"He can't," Selene said, stepping beside them. "You defeated his elite unit. That news will spread."

Kael looked toward the hills.

Kael stepped forward.

"And what did you find?"

She smiled slightly.

"Something dangerous."

Her name was Aria.

A wandering swordswoman.

And she had been following Kael's trail for days.

"You're going to change this kingdom," she said. "And people like me… we choose which side of history we stand on."

Kael studied her.

"Then choose."

Aria knelt.

"I follow Loyalty."

Kael felt the weight of it.

Another strong ally.

Another thread in the growing web of fate.

Far away, nobles whispered.

A prince who defeated royal troops.

A fort in the hills.

A group called Loyalty.

Kael was no longer just a rumor.

He was becoming a symbol.

And symbols were powerful.
