Chapter 113 - Back

The familiar palace gates came into view just as the carriage rolled over the stone bridge.

I stared out the window longer than I probably should have, taking in the towering walls that had once terrified me.

The first time I'd come here, I'd thought I was walking into a prison. Now…It almost felt like home. Almost.

I smiled to myself before glancing at Allen beside me.

He'd barely spoken during the ride back.

Not that it was unusual. Allen wasn't exactly the talkative type, but after everything we'd been through together over the past few days, I'd expected him to be a little… different. He was simply staring out the opposite window, one arm resting lazily against the edge.

He didn't seem like he was particularly happy to be going back. Couldn't blame him though, the past few days felt like a dream.
