Ezra
My face burned.
"I think you already know my answer," I said quietly.
Allen didn't smile this time.
Instead, he pulled his hand away from me and stood up. He stepped back, creating a little space between us.
"I don't," he said.
I blinked.
"I don't know your answer, Ezra," he continued. "Not really."
I frowned slightly.
"I don't know you well enough," he added. "Not the way I should. And I'm sure you feel the same about me."
I didn't argue with that.
Because he wasn't wrong.
"I was going to come find you today," he said, pacing slowly. "After the announcement about the festival."
He stopped and looked at me.
"I just didn't expect to see you with Xenon."
My chest tightened a little.
Before I could say anything, he stepped closer again. Then he leaned down and gripped my chin gently, lifting my face so I had no choice but to look at him.
"If you want to be with me," he said, his voice low, "you'll have to spend an endless amount of time in my nest."
