Mark only smiled, not bothering to offer any comment.
He wasn't quite reconciled with the result. He had the feeling that something wasn't right. "Did you check on that Maurice?" Alex pressed.
"Nothing much about him, and he hasn't contacted her since then."
Alex nodded in acknowledgment. "Alright. Thank you." He smirked, and Mark left.
He glanced at his wristwatch. His gaze trailed toward the door before he returned his attention to his phone.
Moments later, the door chimed lightly. Alex glanced at the door, and Cyndi stepped in, dressed in a simple knee-length dress with a shawl wrapped around her shoulders.
Alex gulped.
It had been a while since they last met, and he couldn't deny that a few things had changed about her.
Cyndi glanced around the restaurant. There weren't many diners, so it was quiet. She quickly caught sight of Alex at the end of the hall.
With careful steps, she walked over to him. Alex stood up and walked over to her.
