Enemies make the best witnesses.

The terms are set at the parley ground at midday, in the honest light of the King's territory doing its partial-breaking version of noon, with the full group present and the plan's architecture clear and the specific moment of no-turning-back visible on the near side of everything remaining.

The King agrees to help free my father even if it kills him.

He states it the way he states everything now — without the machinery, without the management, in the plain voice that has been the only available voice since the chains broke. Not dramatically. Not in the way of someone performing a noble sacrifice for the benefit of an audience. In the way of someone who has made a decision and is stating it so that the decision is on record and the people who need to plan around it can plan around it.
