Chapter 423 - Giovanni: Can Team Rocket Still Create Gods?

"Fortunately, under our guidance, Phoebe has already become one of the Elite Four in the Hoenn region."

"She is currently using the influence of the Hoenn League to search for the location of the Sky Pillar. Hopefully, we will find it soon," Grandpa said, his face full of anticipation.

At that moment, a massive Dusknoir drifted out from the Spirit Realm portal, followed by dozens of Shuppet and Banette. These Ghost-type Pokémon were filled with malice, their eerie, high-pitched laughter echoing through the mist.

"Prepare for battle, old man," Grandma said, gripping her cane and releasing a Gengar.

"Indeed. Come out, Banette!" A Banette emerged from Grandpa's shadow. Both Pokémon were equipped with Mega Stones. The two guardians raised their canes, focusing their spirits to trigger Mega Evolution.

The Ultimate War Machines

At Team Rocket Headquarters, Dr. Fuji gazed at the five Genesect units that had just completed their final combat testing. He was beaming with pride. One was a distinct crimson—the leader—while the other four were purple.

Under Fuji's command, the Genesect squad executed complex tactical formations. Fuji had installed an advanced analytical visor over their eyes, allowing them to automatically gauge an opponent's strength and type weaknesses. Based on this data, the Genesect would automatically swap the Drives on their back-mounted cannons.

"Perfect. These are my ultimate combat weapons: the Super Genesect Squad," Fuji declared confidently. "The next step is to test their team coordination in a real field operation."

Giovanni stepped into the lab. "Congratulations, Dr. Fuji. Successfully reviving the Mythical Paleozoic Pokémon is a monumental achievement for Team Rocket."

"We will use them to conquer the underground organizations of other regions and expand our dominion," Giovanni said, his eyes glazing over as he envisioned himself as the ruler of the world.

"Leader Giovanni, I've discovered something else in Colress's research notes: the Artificial God Project," Fuji said excitedly. "Colress planned to clone Legendaries to create controllable 'Artificial Gods.' Based on his data, I estimate a 50% success rate."

"Can Team Rocket... still create Gods?"

Giovanni's expression darkened. The word "God" stung him, bringing back bitter memories of Mewtwo—the project that had consumed astronomical resources only to end in a catastrophic failure. Even for a man who viewed money as dirt, that loss made his heart bleed.

Seeing Giovanni's dejection, Fuji quickly added, "This is different from the Mewtwo project, sir. The initial investment is minimal—comparable to cloning a standard Mythical Pokémon."

Giovanni nodded slowly, not wanting to crush Fuji's newfound momentum. "If you need resources for cloning, simply ask. But remember: Genesect is the foundation of our current rise. Keep your primary focus there."

The Chamber of Unown

On the deserted island, Feng Che and his companions spent half a day navigating the ruins before reaching the entrance to the Underwater Sanctuary. A pulsating purple light acted as a barrier, separating the dry ruins from the crushing depths of the sea.

"Once we cross that barrier, the Titans should stop chasing us," Alivia said, taking a deep breath. Despite the danger, her archaeological curiosity was peaking. "I wonder what horrors—or treasures—await us in there?"

The trio stepped through the violet light. Seconds later, the three Titans arrived at the threshold. Their red and yellow dots blinked rapidly as their cores processed the barrier. The purple energy triggered a "High Risk" warning in their ancient logic modules. After a long pause, the Titans turned back to resume their patrol of the upper ruins.

Inside, the group found themselves surrounded by an ocean of Unown.

"Look... a Rocket member," Alivia whispered, pointing to a pile of bleached white bones clad in a tattered Rocket uniform. Scattered nearby were several Poké Balls, their occupants long since reduced to dust. The air was chillingly morbid.

"This is an Unown Dimension," Alivia's face fell. "We've entered one of the most dangerous types of ruins in the world. We have to pass the 'Challenge of the Unown' if we ever want to leave."

The Unown sensed the intruders and swarmed them, spinning at high speeds and emitting blinding flashes of light.

Feng Che, don't fight them, Mewtwo spoke suddenly. I sense no malice. Besides, you possess the Original Unown within you—the progenitor of their entire species. All Unown are mere fragments of the one you carry. They won't harm you. Let them take you.

When the light faded, the trio found themselves atop a massive altar. Thousands of Unown drifted in the air above them, mirroring the crystalline scenes from the Third Movie. A massive rift had opened in the ceiling of the dimension, revealing a glimpse of the starry cosmos.

The Unown were moving in a complex orbital pattern, siphoning starlight from the rift and condensing it into raw Psychic energy. Occasionally, a glowing Psychic Crystal would fall from their formation like a ripe fruit.

At the center of the swarm, three pale, faded Unown hovered—and around the altar lay even more skeletons of the Team Rocket members who had failed the trial.
