A test.
A secret.
Lacus Clyne's mentor.
Meer frantically scratched her hair, then closed her eyes and tried to hypnotize herself. "This is not real. This is not real. I am just exhausted. Everything will disappear when I wake up."
"Azure Spring."
Garfield unceremoniously raised his paw and cast a spell, a clear spring appearing in mid air, drenching Meer from head to toe.
Splash.
Washed by the spring water, Meer opened her eyes and touched the water on her face.
This spring water shattered Meer's last hope.
Her fate was destined to change today.
Seeing Meer's disheveled appearance, Garfield reached out and cleaned up all the water splashed on Meer and the items in the house, returning them to their original state.
"Alright, now you are awake. Meer, before this test, I am making it clear to you that finding you to be Lacus's stand in is my plan."
Meer gasped. "Ah."
Suddenly, she remembered the novels and TV dramas she had read.
Whenever the mastermind revealed a shocking secret to the protagonist, it foreshadowed their intention to harm them.
Holding herself tightly, Meer cautiously asked Garfield, "You are not going to kill me, are you."
Garfield was now shocked.
What was she thinking.
The King of Carter Manor, would he really kill a girl with a combat power of less than five.
That would be incredibly beneath him.
Garfield scoffed. "I am a god of half heavenly level, the king of Carter Manor, the mentor of the leaders of the two major factions of Transformers, the uncrowned king of the Star Wars universe, and a figure connected to Wakanda. Never mind Wakanda. I would not kill a little kid like you. I am of the Good and Lawful alignment."
With Garfield's assurance, Meer relaxed.
For a moment, she felt like she was about to cry.
A young girl in the prime of her youth, her life just beginning, how could she possibly want to die.
Garfield naturally knew what Meer was thinking, and flew into the air to demonstrate his power. "See. I am a god. I can fly."
Meer thought for a moment and asked Garfield, "Are not gods supposed to be very powerful. Why did you ask me to help Lacus."
Garfield answered, "I do not want to excessively interfere in human wars."
Wars.
Meer was instantly horrified upon hearing the word.
The Coordinators had been forced into this situation by the Earth Alliance, the Naturals.
Although the large scale war between the two sides had ceased, small scale skirmishes had never stopped.
One of Meer's former neighbors, an older man, had died at the hands of the Earth Alliance.
"War. The Earth Alliance is going to fight PLANT."
Meer's voice trembled slightly, a fear of her friend's death, not of war itself.
Information about Meer was scarce in the anime, but Garfield discovered through research in this world that Meer's childhood was actually quite rich and fulfilling.
Unfortunately, she was ultimately used as a political tool.
"The shadow of war has already fallen on Meer. In less than five years."
Meer was stunned.
"Now, what you must do is answer this king's question. How do you think the war between the Earth Alliance and PLANT can be resolved."
What.
Meer was stunned.
This question was too difficult.
She was only nine years old.
How could she possibly understand this.
Even with her high intelligence and precocious nature as a Coordinator, she was somewhat frantic.
After going through all the knowledge she had learned, Meer realized she really did not know how to answer.
She looked at Garfield apologetically and said, "Sorry, I do not know."
Meer was indeed a bit less knowledgeable than the little pink girl, who sweetly told Garfield that as long as everyone wanted peace, that was enough.
This idea was good, but it was limited to the world of children.
Once their minds were eroded by reality, they would become the kind of people they hated most when they were young.
Meer could not answer on her own, so she had to make a choice.
Garfield asked Meer again, "I will give you two choices. A highly centralized imperial dictatorship and the current Earth Union system. Which do you think is easier to achieve peace between Naturals and Coordinators."
This was so difficult.
Meer had no idea how to choose.
What was a dictatorship.
Was it an emperor.
She remembered that the kind neighbor uncle who was good to her had died because of the Earth Union.
She did not think they were the kind of people who deserved that.
As for the imperial system, perhaps it was a combination of the imperial system and the Earth Alliance's elective imperial system.
Meer raised her little hand and whispered to Garfield, "Perhaps it is an imperial system."
Garfield asked, "Meer, how did you come to that conclusion."
Meer was a good girl and directly told Garfield about her relationship with that kind uncle next door.
Garfield could not help but sigh after hearing it.
That was how it turned out.
Anyway, Meer had already given him the answer.
As for how she came to it, it did not matter.
What he needed to do next was to change the direction of Meer's stand in work.
Lacus took the approachable route, so Meer would exist as the future queen.
Not only the queen of PLANT, but also the queen of the Earth Alliance.
What Garfield needed to do was, after PLANT raided Orb's neutral colony of Heliopolis, raid Orb's laboratory to seize the Gundam mobile suits.
Take all the mobile suits in one fell swoop, not giving Kira Yamato any chance, and directly order Rau Le Creuset to lead the fleet to destroy the Earth Alliance forces.
Then, the evidence of the crimes committed by those unscrupulous arms dealers of the Blue Cosmos organization within the Earth Alliance would be released, allowing the angry people to expose them, and then the Earth Alliance would be taken over by PLANT.
Next, Meer would directly take over the PLANT government, gain political advantage, implement reforms, establish a new nation, and become the new queen.
Her name would be Meer Pendragon.
"Alright, Meer, I do not care how you arrived at that answer. From now on, I will begin training you to be a qualified emperor."
Meer's jaw dropped. "Huh."
Garfield pulled out three books. "The Art of Thick Skinnedness," "Old Ma's Thoughts," and "The Art of Emperorship."
His own modified versions, all with metal shells, made of magical materials refined over forty nine days.
If thrown, they could at least destroy a Zaku.
"From now on, you will begin learning the contents of these three books from me."
Looking at the three books that resembled steel plates, Meer stared blankly at them and pointed. "These are books, not steel plates, right."
Garfield confirmed, "Of course they are books. Now, Meer."
Meer answered, "Here."
Garfield instructed, "Now begin your studies. You must call me Teacher Garfield."
Meer recalled the fear of being dominated by a certain strict teacher and subconsciously answered, "Yes, Teacher Garfield."
Meer's training path took a turn.
Meanwhile, Lacus, who had discovered Garfield had been missing for most of the day, hugged Garfield after he returned home, sniffed him, and then spoke.
