"Security throughout the city has increased significantly."
Aiden folded his hands on the desk.
"How much?"
"Nearly double."
Nyxveil walked toward the large map hanging on the wall and pointed at several locations.
"The city gates now have more guards stationed at all times."
"Visitors are being questioned before entering."
"Merchants are being monitored."
"Even patrols inside the city have become more frequent."
Aiden listened quietly.
"Anything else?"
Nyxveil nodded.
"The city lord has ordered scouts to gather information about Valen City."
Aiden chuckled.
"I would've done the same."
"They know what happened?"
"Yes."
Nyxveil's eyes narrowed.
"They know Valen City has been conquered."
"They don't know the full details, but they are aware that the city wasn't destroyed."
"They know the population remains alive."
"And they know an unknown force is controlling the city."
Aiden leaned back in his chair.
