Morning had washed Silthara in pale gold.
Levin stood quietly before the window, his hands resting behind his back as he gazed over the empire he had sworn to protect.
His eyes were thoughtful and heavy. He did not even notice the footsteps behind him. Until warm arms encircled his waist.
Zeramet rested his chin lightly upon Levin's shoulder; his voice was low and gentle. "My Moonflower...you've been staring at the city for quite some time."
Levin smiled faintly. "I was thinking."
"I know."
Zeramet intertwined their fingers. "But...have you truly forgiven your husband?"
Levin let out a quiet chuckle. "So you're still worried about that?"
"I intend to worry until you tell me otherwise." Levin leaned back against Zeramet's chest, allowing himself to relax within the familiar embrace.
"I forgave you yesterday." He turned his head just enough to glance at him. "So stop punishing yourself."
