Ideally, the swordsman should be slowly wearing the enemy down, but he was rushing the attacks in order to speed up the demise of the old man. It seemed that even though he didn't retreat, he was still wary of the reinforcement and wanted to finish the enemy off before the reinforcement arrived.
As he swung his sword, he said to the old man, "Just surrender and let me catch you. If you let me catch you, I will make things easier for you when I sell you and your Cave Heaven to another forger."
The old man shouted back, "In your dreams. If you are going to get me, you will have to kill me."
He was displeased to hear this, so he scoffed and said, "Suit yourself. It will be more difficult, but your death can be arranged."
Meanwhile, he thought to himself, "As long as I take note of where they die, I can bring a seer to come and help me find their Cave Heaven. The seer will take their portion, but the rest should be enough to make up for my loss this time around."
