"How are you feeling now?"
Today, Rai came to visit Ron.
He managed to visit Ron often, almost too often, because the kids were always eager to invite him into their trips. But today was different. Rai had come alone, holding a small lunchbox.
Inside the container sat a batch of delicate, freshly made sweets.
And, they were also, completely by coincidence, Zade's absolute favorite ones.
Rai had spent the earlier part of the afternoon staring at his kitchen counter, consumed by a strange, restless boredom.
Rather than sitting idle, he had impulsively decided to whip up a massive batch of the treats, convincing himself that he just needed something to occupy his hands.
Once they were finished, packing a portion for Ron gave him a perfectly logical, completely foolproof excuse for why he had made so much in the first place.
He had made them for Ron, of course.
For the kid. Obviously.
Why on earth would he ever make them for a arrogant, infuriating bastard like Zade?
