Rai couldn't hide his reaction, but nobody really thought much of it. To the rest of the group, he simply looked taken aback by how fast he'd lost his footing and about the incident but nothing more.
He was still leaning somewhat weakly against Zade, his weight shifted off his bad leg.
As they started moving again, Rai tried to steal a glance backward, doubting his own eyes the immediate second after it happened.
He didn't see it again. Yet, no matter how hard he tried to shake it, he couldn't stop thinking about it.
He couldn't have seen it wrong.
But...
'Maybe he also has one just like Zade's? That has to be it...'
"Hold still," Zade muttered breaking Rai's chain of thoughts, his voice very low.
Rai had to force the thoughts out of his mind as Zade slapped a plaster over the fresh scratch on his knee. The sting was sharp, but the real test came when Zade gripped his arm and helped him take a step forward.
'Fuck.'
