The group lingered at the summit for over two hours, soaking in the view, before it was finally time to make the descent. Rai heard a collective, heavy sigh ripple through the group as everyone stared down at the daunting, seemingly endless flight of stone stairs.
Rai stood at the top, completely flabbergasted. Looking down, the bottom seemed miles away. He genuinely questioned his own memory; had they really climbed up this many steps? It felt impossible.
"Let's go," Zade said, stepping forward.
Rai followed closely behind him. It didn't take long for him to learn a brutal lesson: going down was infinitely more dangerous than coming up. Even though it required less cardio, his legs were exhausted, bending too easily and shaking like leaves with every single step.
Fortunately, he had the bastard.
"Be careful, princess," Zade murmured mischievously, checking back.
