The heavy, suffocating warmth of the comfortable bed combined with the sheer exhaustion of the past few hours had dragged them both down into a deep, unbroken sleep.
When Zade finally drifted back to consciousness, the room was bathed in the dim, amber glow of twilight. He glanced toward the bedside clock. The digital display blinked back at him silently. It was already past 6:00 PM.
He didn't move. He remained perfectly still, his gaze tracking downward to the weight resting across his chest. Rai's arms were wrapped firmly around him, anchoring them together in a tangled knot of limbs and bedsheets.
Rai himself was still fast asleep, his breathing slow and even, his face softened by a rare, elusive expression of absolute peace.
Looking at him like this, an odd, sudden urge flared up in Zade's chest. He wanted to kiss him.
So, he did. After all, Rai was his.
