If I had to guess, the reason Aliyah was in that state to begin with was because of Morr. She was one of the most powerful people I knew. In the game, and obviously in reality.
So for her to get so badly injured to the point that she nearly died... I knew I couldn't rely on Clementine to get strong enough to do this either. It was just not worth it, seeing her get hurt like that.
