Around two in the afternoon, the sun had tilted away from the summit. Its light had softened into a warm gold, spilling across the lawn.
Kevin sank under a broad tree, dragging his aching limbs. He pressed his back against the trunk, chest rising and falling with slow, heavy breaths.
His entire body was drenched in sweat. Dust clung to his clothes, his hair, and his boots. They were evidence of the hard labor he had just done.
"Whew..."
Kevin lifted his chin, staring at the new two-story house. It stood quietly across the open lawn, positioned opposite the cottage he had been living in for two days.
Compared to the two cottages, this house sported a more modern and luxurious design. It was also the biggest. For the past few hours, everyone had worked together to clean and repair the house.
Ashrik assigned everyone to start by hauling furniture out into the open lawn. Couches, beds, tables, cabinets; everything that could be cleaned or repaired was carried outside.
