Scarlett did not turn around.

She knew Julian was still there. She could feel him in the quiet, in the way the air seemed to hold its breath, in the faint shift of warmth behind her that refused to disappear. His presence had always been like that. Unseen, yet undeniable.

Outside, the city stretched endlessly, a sea of trembling lights beneath a sky that offered no answers. Scarlett pressed her fingers lightly against the cool glass, grounding herself in something solid, something real.

"Say something," Julian finally whispered.

His voice was lower than usual, stripped of its usual certainty. It carried something fragile, something that did not belong to the man who had once commanded rooms without effort.

Scarlett closed her eyes for a moment.

"What do you want me to say?"

The question was soft, but it was not gentle. It was heavy with everything she had kept buried, everything she had refused to name.

Julian took a step closer.
