Arthas carefully observed the dragon egg before him. It was suppressed by arcane energy, but the void power of the Old Gods also writhed upon its surface. He was very familiar with the power of the Old Gods, as he wielded it himself. Void power had a unique advantage in corruption, capable of twisting stone and steel into flesh and blood.
It was common knowledge that flesh and blood could hardly withstand steel. This type of corruption was specifically aimed at Titan creations, twisting their original steel bodies into creatures of flesh, granting them a degree of self-awareness and the ability to contain the power of the void, turning them into the Old Gods' most loyal servants!
Arthas didn't think this corruption would be difficult to remove. In fact, the moment he detected the Old God power on it, a prompt appeared: "Use one portion of Life Essence combined with Old God power to purify the corruption on this item. (Using the instruments in a Titan laboratory and your own blood will cause the hatched dragon to recognize you as its master and be strengthened.)"
This prompt made his eyes light up. Wasn't this the perfect way to pull the rug out from under someone? After Malygos painstakingly raised his child, he would discover it was actually one of Arthas's own subordinates. Wouldn't his nose be bent out of shape with rage?
"Can you enter the Sholazar Basin?" Arthas asked Malygos.
"I can. What do you need to go in there for?" Of course, Malygos could enter. Generally, there was no need. The dragons did not set foot in the areas established by the Titan Guardians; those were laboratories for conducting experiments. They were not to interfere with the experiments.
It was best to feign ignorance and simply not meddle. However, if something important came up, they would disregard this unspoken rule. Rules were rigid, but people were flexible; of course, they could adapt.
"To cleanse the corruption from the dragon egg, I must use the functions of the Titan laboratory. Hmm, I'll make a trip there now."
As Arthas looked toward the gate, another graceful, mature woman walked in. Her beautiful eyes were captivating, and her black hair flowed as if stirred by an unfelt wind. She was voluptuous and well-rounded, and the slight smile that revealed her pearly teeth carried a hint of wicked charm. Her peach-like, shapely rear was wrapped in a long skirt that seemed on the verge of bursting.
"You're here. It's good to see you, wife."
"Husband." The newcomer was none other than Onyxia, the new Black Dragon Queen, whom he had not seen for a long time. After greeting Arthas, she nodded to the other dragons present. It was a greeting, but in truth, she only glanced at Malygos and Senegos. The former was the Blue Dragon King, and the latter was an ancient dragon second only to the Blue Dragon King. Every dragon that had survived since ancient times was a treasure; their experience and knowledge were a trove for all dragonkind!
Seeing his wife again, Arthas felt a unique sensation. In the beginning, Onyxia had plotted against him with Deathwing. He never expected that fate would play such a trick, and the two would actually become husband and wife! It all seemed predestined, a connection that was hard to put into words.
"Bring a corrupted black dragon egg. We'll conduct an experiment together. If it succeeds, we might find a way to cleanse the corruption from the eggs. It's not guaranteed to work, but if it's successful, it will be good news for both the black and blue dragons. The situation can't get any worse. Let's risk it for the biscuit!" Arthas said to Onyxia with a smile. The black dragons' situation was not much better than the blue dragons'.
After Neltharion fell and became Deathwing, the entire Black Dragonflight was corrupted to varying degrees. The worst part was that their eggs could no longer hatch, and they couldn't even reproduce. Over the long years, a large number of black dragons were killed by the other dragon legions. At least some were kept as hostages in Wyrmrest Temple. These innocent black dragons were monitored in everything they did; otherwise, destruction awaited them.
"Alright, I've brought one." Onyxia didn't even ask any questions, naturally trusting Arthas's words. Although they hadn't been together for long, and had even been separated right after their wedding due to their respective duties, seeing each other again now felt like a reunion sweeter than a honeymoon. That trust had not weakened in the slightest; on the contrary, it had grown stronger through their separation.
After Arthas and Onyxia left, Malygos spoke to his old friend, Senegos.
"That is the prince of the human kingdom of Lordaeron. Alexstrasza and Ysera are very close to him, Onyxia is his consort, and he is favored by the Titans."
Senegos was about to ask what a mere human had done to earn the favor of dragons, but he fell silent the next second when he heard Malygos's words.
Favored by the Titans? Alright, then he was an extremely lucky individual, and certainly a human with special abilities. Luck was part of it, but potential was more important. As an old dragon, he knew well that favor was not bestowed upon the worthless. This was a law of nature, a fundamental of survival.
"I see. If he can succeed, the Blue Dragonflight will surely rise to glory once more!"
"Indeed. It all depends on how much he can accomplish. Senegos, what did you come to see me for?" Malygos sighed. At least for now, the situation was looking up, and he had no reason to go mad.
"The number of Withered in Suramar has been increasing lately, posing a great threat to our flight. Also, a Temple of Elune has recently risen on the Broken Shore, and inside it is the imprisoned avatar of Sargeras. I'm worried there might be some trouble," said Senegos, who was also a survivor of the War of the Ancients and knew the Burning Legion all too well.
He just didn't understand why the Titan Guardians had all started playing dead back then. Did they not know the danger the Burning Legion posed?
"Hmm, I will go and reinforce the seal. I'll make sure there are no problems, so don't worry." Malygos pondered for a moment and decided to strengthen the seal to prevent the demon inside from escaping.
He would take care of it when he was in the mood. The avatar of Sargeras was not weak, and anything related to the Burning Legion had to be treated with caution.
"I'll leave it to you, then. Besides this, there are some other recent developments."
The two began to discuss the secrets of the Blue Dragonflight and exchange information on recent world events. If there were no major problems, the dragons would not interfere. If there was a major problem, they would hold another meeting to discuss it.
Such matters generally did not catch the attention of the Dragon Aspects, unless an Old God broke free from its prison or the Burning Legion invaded. As for trivialities like the Orc invasion or the Trolls starting to act up again, they couldn't even be bothered to glance at them. They would rather take a nap.
