Chapter 148 - Lacking Power - Chapter 148

The time for the training with Elder Lou arrived.

Conrad this time did not waste much time with meeting and understanding the man in front of him.

They only focused on the training due to cane fighting and sword fighting being simple. This time getting used to it was not that hard for Conrad.

The training went on for one week again, and after Conrad left Elder Lou, he knew how to fight with a cane and a sword.

Before leaving Yorknew City.

Conrad checked into an ordinary hotel to stay there for a bit.

It would be a waste just to leave Yorknew City without seeing around for some time.

In the end, the time will arrive that the events of the canon will come here.

Not that he was interested in getting in contact with those things, but still, he believed it was important for him to understand and get to know the city.

Just for fun.

He spent one day going around the city, eating and drinking. Just living his best life.

After he had seen enough, he left Yorknew City and went back to the Heavens Arena.

As he arrived at the Heavens Arena, Adarte called him.

"What is it?" Conrad asked.

Adarte took a deep breath and said.

"Hey, I would like to meet you. Anisa will be coming too."

Conrad gave out a cold breath.

"Okay, what is it?" he asked again.

He doesn't like these kinds of weird questions and use of words.

This was something that he never understood. People were never direct and never gave enough information. Instead, they use weird words and cause anxiety and curiousness.

"It is something about a guy; I think he is well-suited to our small team."

Conrad nodded.

"So, what's his name?"

Adarte then said.

"His name is Kastro. We know that he is a powerful nen user..."

Conrad stopped for a moment and then smiled.

"Kastro."

"I believe that guy has a master named Serivo. I guess you two know about that."

Adarte stopped for a moment and then was silent. He did not know what to say.

Adarte knew all the battles of Conrad, and whoever he fought, he and Anisa made sure that they watched the battles of Conrad. It is something important for them.

Now, Adarte heard that the man they want to get in the small team and group of them is just a student of the man.

This was something that changed everything for them.

"We are at the cocktail bar. Can you just come?" Adarte said.

Conrad took a deep breath.

"I will be there in five minutes."

Conrad then closed the phone and went to the cocktail bar.

After arriving at the cocktail bar, his eyes landed on Adarte and Anisa, and he went to their side.

"So."

"Tell me."

He said so to both.

Adarte then said.

"We did not know that this guy named Kastro is a student of the man you beat."

Anisa could not help but murmur.

"Would that be a problem anyway?"

Conrad looked at Anisa and then said to her.

"Are you dumb?"

Anisa looked at Conrad, shocked, and did not expect such words from him.

Conrad then added.

"Do you two think that we are building a holiday group or something like that?"

"Why would we need some half-baked NEN user?"

"Even his teacher is not capable of fighting against more than three seconds if I were to make it clear and take him seriously."

"Why would I need his student, who is more than likely and definitely weaker than his teacher?"

"Are we going to teach everyone how to use nen after we get them in our group?"

Anisa and Adarte looked at Conrad, who told them everything that was wrong with their thinking.

Especially Anisa could not help but take a deep breath. She started sweating a lot due to stress and understanding how poor of a thought she had by thinking and saying something like that.

Conrad then added.

"We are trying to form a group that is powerful. Even a rival to the Phantom Troupe, if possible, in the future."

"What we need is really strong people. People that have already reached some point in their nen mastery, who have a great understanding of themselves, and thus their capability to fight and understand the enemy."

Adarte thought for a moment, and his face sunken for a moment, then he could not help but ask.

"According to your words."

Conrad listened to him and looked deep into his eye.

"Are we really fit to be in your group?"

As he asked this question, the atmosphere changed. It was like somebody lit a fire in the whole cocktail bar and let it burn.

Then, the silent coldness spread around in the room.

Conrad looked at Adarte for a moment and noticed the same look in the eyes of Anisa.

"At least you people are worthy and keep improving every time I see you two."

Conrad said after some thought.

Adarte and Anisa let out a cold breath, and then the atmosphere came back to its normal time.

Hearing such words from Conrad was a new thing for them, and this was a subject that they both talked about most of the time but never had the chance to ask Conrad.

Now that he at least said some good words about them. They felt more right and more complete.

They were striving to be powerful nen users and fighters.

They were not blind or fools. They were very well capable of understanding the facts compared to Conrad. They lack a lot, and the team is only strong because Conrad is there.

There are many things that they could not understand Conrad is doing, and they have no right to explore it.

As it would not be logical for any new user to explain their secrets to others. Team member or not.

"So, they felt not great, and they were hiding their feelings from me."
