The next morning, Conrad went to the airship that would go to Yorknew City without wasting any time.
He wanted to meet with this woman named Laliana and look at her and her capability to train herself.
The meeting was already set up, and the only thing left to do is evaluate her training capability.
Not much time later, Conrad left the taxi and paid the bill and came to the front of a small villa.
Just about the outskirts of Yorknew City, not too far away from the center but also not close.
"So, this is where she lives."
Conrad said to himself as he took one step. The big gate opened, and a woman with a black dress and a middle-aged man with a mustache, having a look of a steward, showed themselves.
"Mister Conrad, you are on point," said the woman.
"I am Lalana, sister of the master Laliana. Let me show you the way," she added.
Conrad nodded.
"Thank you."
He then followed Lalana inside.
The inside of the small villa was not that big but not that small, around four hundred to five hundred square meters in total, both inside and outside.
"Great place you have here." Conrad commented as he looked at the statues and antique swords that were strapped on the wall.
"We're still trying to improve it."
Lalana said with a smile and then led him into the training grounds, normally the courtyard.
"Laliana, your new student, Mr. Conrad, has arrived."
Lailana turned to look at Conrad for a moment, and then her breathing got faster.
"What a man..." she thought.
Her comment was about the looks of Conrad, or anything.
One look at him, and she can see that this man is not good news for anybody who wants to be an enemy of him.
Sword masters or martial artists that are high level in their arts have a lot of experience understanding people and how they would act in certain situations.
They can read the body language of almost anybody like a master.
As everything in the end depended on their capability to understand what the target and their opponent would do.
"You are strong..."
"Most likely stronger than me..." she said to Conrad.
Conrad smiled.
"Oh, so she did feel something was different with me," he thought.
He then looked at Lalana, who was taken aback.
She did not expect her sister to comment on something like this.
Especially a student that would bring great income to them.
It would be weird for a master swordsman to tell somebody that they are more powerful than them. It was not logical.
The student may think,
"If I am stronger, why am I here to pay you to train me?"
That would not be great for business.
Conrad then added.
"I would not put it like that" and kept her silence.
Laliana then said as she looked at her sister and the steward.
"Leave me with Mr. Conrad alone."
They both nodded and left the courtyard.
Laliana took a wooden sword from the training area at the left and threw it to Conrad, who caught it without any problem.
"Your body, your movement, your physical power, all of the charts."
"I can see that you are hiding a real, pure power inside of you."
"I guess..."
"You are to learn techniques and are not necessarily looking for a pure power increase?"
Conrad laughed.
"Yeah, that is my purpose."
"I am not weak or in need of pure power."
"I just want to know how to use a sword correctly."
Laliana nodded and let out a cold breath.
"If he is here to train sword arts, I can still show some things."
"But I am sure if he wants to, he can beat me using just one hand and blinded."
She then took another wooden sword and pointed out the middle area.
"Let's start our first training then."
"I want you to hit me with the sword, but do take care not to use your hidden and pure power, if you know what I mean."
Conrad nodded and smirked.
"She is really able to tell that I am hiding my power..."
Laliana basically said,
"Try to attack me, but do not use your pure power to force your way out of my defenses; try to do it with sword techniques."
She wanted Conrad to use sword arts to break down her defenses and defeat her.
Conrad then did not think much about how to attack and just launched himself.
Laliana basically side-stepped and evaded the attack and hit Conrad in the back.
"Try to attack with a clearer mind."
"It will make your attacks much harder to anticipate."
Conrad nodded and then cleared his mind again and attacked.
Lalina stopped the sword with a basic overhand block and then slid to the right and slashed to the right, hitting Conrad in the shoulder.
"Again."
Conrad launched an attack again, this time a right swipe.
Laliana blocked with ease, and then two swords slid into each other while Laliana moved like a dancer and hit Conrad in the back.
"Again."
"You learn quickly."
Conrad did not stop and continued using different ways to attack with the sword without using his pure physical power or Nen.
Two hours later, Conrad took a deep breath and bowed a little.
"Thank you."
"It was great," he added.
Laliana smiled.
"I can see that you are not accustomed to using a sword, but also, in just two hours, you are 99% better than people I have trained."
"You learn too quickly."
Conrad nodded and added.
"Yeah, but I was not able to touch you with a sword even one time after what, thousands of tries."
Laliana smiled.
"I would be pretty sad if you were able to touch me just using the sword techniques you have."
"I am thirty this year; I've been training with my father for more than twenty-five years..."
Conrad nodded.
"You have a great point."
Laliana then added.
"So, are you going to keep coming?"
Conrad nodded.
"Yes, I will send eight more hours of payment to your sister."
"Will be here two hours per day, if it is okay, and finish in four days."
Laliana nodded.
"That is great."
"When you leave here, you will know how to train yourself and protect yourself with the sword."
Conrad smiled and then left the villa after he spoke to Lalana and confirmed the payment.
