Chapter 195 - CHAPTER 195

The sky was still pale when preparations reached their final stage.

It was not a quiet morning.

Nor was it a busy one.

It felt more like a pause before something much greater occurred.

Adrian Blackwood stood in the center of the tactical room.

His gaze fixed on the large screen.

The digital map cast a faint glow upon his face.

Red lines marked the entry routes.

Blue dots indicated the team's positions.

There was no room for error.

Daniel stood beside him.

His fingers moved swiftly.

Data was constantly being updated.

Every second brought new information.

"We have three routes," he said.

His voice calm.

Full of focus.

Leonard Graves leaned against the table.

His eyes scanning the map.

"They are definitely watching everything."

His tone casual.

But the meaning sharp.

Adrian did not turn his head.

"Let them see what we want them to see."

Daniel added a new layer to the map.

"The shadow team will enter from the north side."

He zoomed in.

"The main team from this route."

Leonard smiled faintly.

"And their trap is right in the middle."

Adrian nodded.

"We will not touch the core."

He paused briefly.

"We will simply surround it."

Silence.

Everyone understood.

This was not a standard attack.

It was a game of patience.

In a different room.

Sophia sat on the edge of the bed.

Her body still felt weak.

She forced herself to sit upright.

Her eyes stared at the small screen in her hand.

The same data.

The same map.

But from a different perspective.

She was not on the field.

Yet she remained part of the game.

Someone knocked on the door.

Daniel entered.

"We are about to leave."

Sophia nodded.

Her eyes never leaving the screen.

"Watch the movement patterns on the second layer."

Daniel frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Sophia enlarged one section.

"This is not just defense."

She pointed to a thin line.

"This is a diversion route."

Daniel moved closer.

His eyes narrowing.

Several seconds passed.

Then he nodded slowly.

"If we follow this path."

Sophia continued.

"We will walk right into an empty area."

Daniel took a breath.

"And that means."

Sophia looked at him.

"They are waiting for us there."

Silence fell.

It was not a surprise.

More like a confirmation.

Daniel smiled faintly.

"Good."

Sophia raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Good."

Daniel nodded.

"Because that means we know exactly where their focus will be."

Sophia did not reply.

But her eyes showed understanding.

"Send me all updates," she said.

Daniel nodded.

"Always."

He left.

Leaving Sophia alone once again.

At the target location.

A large building stood silently.

Unassuming.

Too clean to be ignored.

In the distance.

Adrian's team was already in position.

No sounds.

No excessive movements.

Everything was measured.

Adrian gave a small signal.

Everyone moved.

They did not enter through the main door.

Nor through any obvious path.

They chose the shadows.

Small gaps.

Routes that were almost invisible.

Leonard moved on the left side.

His steps light.

His eyes constantly scanning.

Daniel stayed behind.

Controlling from a safe distance.

Every piece of information transmitted instantly.

"First area clear," Leonard whispered.

Adrian nodded.

His hand gave a sign.

The team moved deeper inside.

A long corridor stretched out.

Dim lights.

Cold walls.

No guards in sight.

"This is too easy," said one team member.

Adrian stopped.

His gaze sharp.

"Stay focused."

He stepped forward again.

More cautiously.

On the screen.

Daniel saw something.

A shifting pattern.

"Halt."

The voice entered their comms immediately.

All fell silent.

"There is movement below," Daniel continued.

He enlarged the data.

"They are not on the upper level."

Leonard exhaled slowly.

"So this really is just bait."

Adrian stared at the floor.

Thinking quickly.

"Down," he said.

A panel was opened.

A hidden staircase revealed itself.

Dark.

Deep.

Without hesitation.

Adrian stepped down.

The air changed.

Colder.

Heavier.

Their footsteps echoed softly.

And controlled.

In the control room.

Daniel watched the screens.

The data growing increasingly complex.

"This is not just a regular facility."

Sophia heard him through the connection.

She closed her eyes for a moment.

"They built something underneath."

Daniel nodded.

"Possibly the actual center."

Underground.

Adrian reached the lowest level.

A vast space opened up.

Advanced equipment scattered around.

Screens were active.

But no one was there.

Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"Where is everyone."

Adrian did not answer.

He walked inside.

Slowly.

Then.

The lights turned brighter.

Simultaneously.

Footsteps sounded.

Coming from all directions.

Figures emerged from the shadows.

One.

Two.

Then dozens.

Leonard smirked slightly.

"Well, here we go."

Adrian stood tall.

His gaze piercing.

He did not retreat.

In the center of the room.

Someone stepped forward.

Marcus Sterling.

He smiled.

Calmly.

As if he had planned it all.

"I was waiting for you."

Silence fell.

Not born from fear.

But from the collision of two great forces.

Adrian looked at him.

Without hesitation.

"We are here."

Marcus nodded slightly.

"And you have come quite far."

He paused.

"Further than the others."

Leonard glanced around.

"What a shame."

Marcus looked at him.

"Why."

Leonard smiled.

"Because this is not going to end the way you think."

Marcus laughed softly.

"Everyone always says that."

Up above.

Sophia opened her eyes.

Her heart beating faster.

She could sense something.

A change.

"Daniel."

Daniel answered immediately.

"I see it."

Data spiked.

Signals rising.

"They are activating the second system," Daniel said.

Sophia gripped her device tighter.

"This is not over yet."

Back underground.

Marcus took one step closer.

"Now."

He raised his hand slightly.

"The game begins."

Lights flickered.

Doors slammed shut.

Exit routes vanished.

Adrian did not move.

His eyes changed.

Colder.

Keener.

Leonard took position.

The team readied themselves.

There was no way back.

And for the first time.

They were truly inside the enemy's lair.

Above.

Sophia whispered softly.

"Be careful."

The words came too late.

Because down below.

The battle had already begun.

And this time.

No one knew.

Who would make it out alive.

The air in that underground chamber shifted.

Denser.

Colder.

As if every corner held its breath.

Adrian Blackwood did not move.

All his senses were active.

Reading positions.

Distances.

The direction of the enemy's breath.

Beside him, Leonard Graves tilted his head slightly.

The smile still there.

But his eyes were no longer relaxed.

"You certainly know how to welcome guests," he said quietly.

In front of them, Marcus Sterling raised an eyebrow.

"For special guests, of course."

Several men behind Marcus began to move.

Not attacking yet.

Just enough to narrow the space.

Adrian took half a step forward.

A small movement.

Enough to shift the formation.

The team adjusted instantly.

Without a sound.

Without doubt.

Up above.

Daniel stared at the screen.

Data moving wildly.

But not randomly.

He saw the pattern.

A new layer activated.

"This is more than just a trap," he muttered.

Sophia heard him.

"What do you see."

Daniel zoomed in on one area.

"There is signal synchronization."

He paused.

"They are locking down the area."

Sophia sat up a little straighter.

Ignoring the lingering pain.

"Not just locking," she said softly.

"They are isolating."

Daniel turned his head.

"The difference?"

Sophia breathed slowly.

"If they lock it, there are still gaps."

She looked at the screen.

"If they isolate it, they erase every exit."

Silence fell.

Briefly.

Daniel moved instantly.

"I'll try to open an alternative route."

Back underground.

Marcus observed them.

Calmly.

As if time was on his side.

"You are smart," he said.

"Too confident."

Leonard chuckled softly.

"I could say the same thing to you."

Marcus's smile didn't fade.

But his eyes turned colder.

"Begin."

One word.

Short.

But enough.

Movement happened in an instant.

The men behind him charged forward.

Fast.

Coordinated.

Adrian reacted instantly.

He dodged.

Blocked.

Moving his body with precision.

The first collision occurred.

Hard.

Swift.

Leaving no room for doubt.

Leonard moved to the left flank.

His strikes sharp.

Efficient.

Every step had a purpose.

The rest of the team followed suit.

Formation maintained.

The pressure intensified.

Adrian blocked an attack.

Then countered.

His movements were economical.

Just enough to take down the opponent.

His eyes constantly scanning.

Calculating.

Assessing.

Marcus did not join the fight.

He merely watched.

His attention absolute.

Above.

Daniel gritted his teeth.

"I can't break through."

Sophia stared at the screen.

"Try the secondary lines."

Daniel shook his head.

"Already did."

He paused.

"They anticipated that."

Sophia clenched her hands.

Her mind racing.

"We can't open it from the outside."

Daniel looked at her.

"What do you mean."

Sophia peered deeper into the display.

"We have to open it from the inside."

Silence.

Instantly understood.

Daniel took a breath.

"That means they have to reach the control node."

Sophia nodded slightly.

"And fast."

Back underground.

Adrian felt the pressure rising.

The number of enemies didn't decrease.

If anything, it grew.

Leonard moved closer.

"We can't stay here long."

Adrian nodded.

"Objective changed."

Leonard glanced quickly.

"The control node."

Adrian gave a single signal.

The team began to shift.

Slowly.

But surely.

Marcus noticed the change.

His smile returned.

"Ah."

He stepped forward slightly.

"You catch on faster than I expected."

Adrian did not reply.

His movements became sharper.

Clearing a path.

One by one.

Leonard followed.

Covering the gaps.

Maintaining the rhythm.

Ahead.

Another corridor came into view.

Darker.

More significant.

"There," Adrian said.

The team moved.

Quickly.

Marcus did not give chase.

He simply stood.

Watching.

"Let them go," he said softly.

Someone behind him hesitated.

"But…"

Marcus raised his hand slightly.

"The game is not over yet."

Above.

Daniel saw the route change.

"They are moving."

Sophia focused immediately.

"Towards the control node."

Daniel nodded.

"I'll assist from here."

Sophia closed her eyes for a moment.

Trying to steady her breathing.

Her heart still racing.

Because she knew.

The most dangerous part.

Had only just begun.

Underground.

Adrian reached a narrow passage.

His steps slowed.

Not out of hesitation.

But because he knew.

This was the core section.

Leonard stood behind him.

"Feels different."

Adrian nodded.

"Yes."

The air was colder.

More silent.

Then.

A massive door appeared before them.

Sealed tight.

No handles.

No visible seams.

Daniel spoke through the comms.

"That's it."

Sophia opened her eyes.

Her gaze intense.

"That is the center."

Adrian stepped closer.

His hand touched the surface.

Cold.

Vibrating faintly.

Leonard leaned in slightly.

"And of course, it won't be easy."

Adrian did not answer.

He just stared at the door.

Behind them.

Footsteps sounded again.

More of them.

Faster.

Leonard turned around.

"We're running out of time."

Adrian took a breath.

Then spoke quietly.

"Daniel."

"I'm ready," Daniel replied.

Sophia gripped her device firmly.

"Open the way."

Adrian stared straight ahead.

Ever since they entered.

He had truly felt the pressure.

Yet he did not retreat.

Because behind that door.

Lay the answers.

And perhaps also.

The end of everything.
