I was sitting in my plush leather chair, sipping some wine slowly while racking my brain to figure out where Robert might have hidden "The Snake." I must find his weakness quickly, and when I do, I will crush him entirely and make him regret challenging the Don.
The provocative words of Thomas flashed back in my mind. I gripped the glass in my hand so hard my knuckles turned white, the glass nearly shattering under the intensity of my hold. That bastard! Bragging that Violet chose him. Damn him, and damn Violet! I never expected to love her this way, with such madness.
Despite all these long years, my cursed heart still beats for her alone, notwithstanding everything she did to me.
