Adrian was silent for a moment before saying in a deep voice, "It was two gestational sacs."
Two gestational sacs...
It felt as if Claire's world was collapsing in that very moment.
'So she hadn't just lost one child, but two...'
'Why did it have to be this way?'
'Aren't the chances of having twins supposed to be low? Even though my sister and I are twins, it didn't have to be passed down like this!'
"I'm so useless," Claire finally managed to say after a long silence, fresh tears streaming down her face as she spoke.
Adrian quickly reassured her. "Claire, this isn't your fault. Don't blame yourself. We'll have another chance in the future."
"But the twins... they're gone..." Claire broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. A sharp pain pierced her chest, making it almost impossible to breathe.
Realization dawned on Adrian. He said in a deep voice, "I'm coming back to you now, Claire. Wait for me."
"But... but aren't you on a mission?"
