Annabelle Linton looked at him, her expression a mix of emotions. Feigning composure, she probed, "The way you're talking... are you saying that if I don't make it, you won't either?"
"If you were gone, what would be the point of me living?"
Annabelle Linton couldn't discern his true thoughts, so she continued to test the waters. "Leona Grant, I'm serious. If you died, I wouldn't want to live either."
Leona Grant paused for a moment when he heard that.
Then he gave her an exasperated look and said with a frown, "Why talk about dying when we're perfectly fine? You're talking nonsense. We haven't even had a baby yet, so how could I die? Don't say things like that ever again."
