A dark look flickered in Susan Caldwell's eyes. She said slowly, "I have a handle on this. You're injured, so go back to your room and rest. With Irene sick with a cold and now you hurt, I'm just so worried."
Skylar Crowe immediately thought Susan was genuinely concerned for her, and some of her anger faded. She said softly, "I'll go rest now. You don't have to worry too much about me."
Susan Caldwell rummaged through her bag, pulled out a bottle of medicine, and handed it to her. "My dad gave me this before I left home. He said it works wonders on bruises and sprains. Here, use this!"
Skylar Crowe, completely won over by the bottle of medicine, was delighted. She reached out and hugged Susan Caldwell. "I knew you cared about me the most!"
Susan Caldwell smiled and nodded. The moment she turned away, the smile vanished from her face without a trace.
