Yvonne Sloan's hand, gripping the knife, remained frozen in position. With her other hand, she unbuttoned Theo Zane's shirt, one by one. "It's a small bomb. Not very powerful, but enough to kill everyone here."
The cut on Theo Zane's neck was still bleeding. It hurt terribly, but the boy didn't dare cry out, only letting tears stream endlessly down his face.
His eyes, dazed with terror, were fixed on his father.
Dylan Zane wanted nothing more than to kill Yvonne Sloan on the spot. "If anything happens to my son," he snarled, "I'll grind your bones to dust."
"I suggest you watch your tone with me. This kid's life is in my hands. All I have to do is press this button, and he'll be blown to a bloody pulp."
Yvonne Sloan brandished the detonator at Dylan Zane, her chilling, spectral laughter echoing through the courtyard.
When she saw the bomb strapped to the child, Laura Lowell gasped. 'This woman is completely insane.'
