Hannah Hale muttered indignantly before opening the back door and getting in.
Laura Lowell leaned over and fastened her seatbelt. She gazed at the tightly shut door, her eyes filled with the calm that comes after the dust has settled.
"Aiden, let's go to the hospital and check on that child first."
The boy had been so lively and adorable, and he'd just been terrified. Laura Lowell was truly worried.
Besides, she wanted to apologize to Dylan Zane in person. After all, this whole thing happened because of her.
Aiden Shaw turned the steering wheel, merging onto the main road. "You haven't even had dinner, and it's already very late. Why don't we go tomorrow instead?"
"I'm not hungry at all. We can just grab a bite on the way. If I don't go see that child, I won't be able to rest easy."
"Okay, we'll do what you want. But you need to get some rest. It's a long drive back to Sudglen."
