River Sterling was actually quite bothered by the doctor saying he was screaming like a woman in labor, but he was so pleased she'd referred to Rhys as "family" that he just grunted and didn't voice any objections.
Rhys Ryston, on the other hand, turned beet red at the misunderstanding. She frantically waved her hands, trying to explain, "Doctor, you've misunderstood. I..."
But the doctor had no time for her explanation. Without looking up, she pointed at River Sterling and told Rhys, "You're the family member, so hold the patient's hand. It'll make him feel secure, and he won't be so nervous and afraid."
Rhys didn't immediately do as she was told. She bit her lip, staring at River Sterling's hand, but couldn't bring herself to reach for it.
