"Hey, is it embarrassing for a grown man to cry out in pain? Are grown men not allowed to be afraid of pain? I *am* afraid of pain, so what?" River Sterling was getting annoyed by her words. He feared nothing in this world; was it so wrong to be afraid of pain?
"Hey, I got hurt saving you, and you have the audacity to complain about me? Have you no conscience?"
Rhys Ryston was unconcerned. "I didn't ask you to save me. If you hadn't, you wouldn't be hurt, would you?"
"You!" River Sterling felt his chest tighten with anger at her words, but he couldn't argue. It was true. She hadn't asked him to save her. He had seen her in danger and rushed over without a second thought.
However, today's events made one thing certain for River Sterling. He had never understood, nor dared to confront, his own feelings for Rhys Ryston. He knew he couldn't get her out of his mind, but he could never quite define what those feelings were.
Now, he finally understood. He had fallen in love with her!
