Clara looked up, watching his face slowly draw closer. She shrank back, pressing her hands desperately against his chest to stop him.
"Try what? I don't want to try anything... Seth, are you insane?! This is a hospital hallway! You... you can't kiss me. Someone's going to see us."
But Seth just let out a laugh. In stark contrast to her resistance and anxiety, he seemed utterly delighted. Clara felt his chest vibrate with his cheerful laughter under her hands.
"Who said anything about kissing you? I was just thinking that if we got a little closer, we could see if I give you my cold." Seth's arms around her tightened, and he leaned in even closer. "Or could it be... that you're actually hoping I'll kiss you?"
Clara was speechless.
Her face flushed crimson, and she was utterly mortified. He hadn't actually said he was going to test it by kissing her. It seemed she'd just been oversensitive and had let her imagination get the better of her.
