Ian Quincy's expression turned murderous as he balled his fist, ready to lunge.
But Cecilia Adler stopped him. "Ian, gentlemen talk things out; they don't resort to violence. We're civilized people. We won't stoop to the level of a vulgar shrew like her." She turned to the two officials. "Sirs, I'm now officially reporting this woman for defaming my character. You two are direct witnesses, aren't you? Are you going to take her in for some moral re-education, or what?"
"We're taking her in, of course," one of them said.
At this, Mrs. Holden got scared.
"But—I—Comrades! I was telling the truth!"
