Jim Quincy's cold gaze swept over her. "Cecilia is new to Valoria and doesn't know a soul. Who would help her? You say she has a problem with you, but why haven't I seen any sign of it? She pushed them, you say? Wasn't it because you were at fault to begin with?"
Christal Russell sidestepped the accusation. "Dad, even if we were out of line, Cecilia had no right to injure them like that."
Cecilia Adler appeared, a look of amusement on her face. "So I was supposed to just lie there and let your two cousins have their way with me? By that logic, can I go find a couple of beggars on the street to rough you up?"
Christal Russell tensed, her insides immediately churning with rage. "So you admit you hurt them? You claim my cousins harassed you. Where's your proof?"
"First, you show me proof that I hurt your cousins," Cecilia retorted, throwing the question right back at her.
"They said you did! And didn't you just admit it yourself?"
