"Why the sudden question?"
Jim Quincy chuckled. "I've gotten on in years and have become a bit hard of hearing. Every time I walk through the main office floor to get to my office, the staff all turn to stare. I suspect they wait until my door is closed to talk behind my back. You're young and have good hearing, so I was hoping you could listen for me."
Cecilia Adler stifled a laugh. 'I thought the more important someone was, the less they'd care about these things. Turns out even he minds being gossiped about.' She readily agreed, "Of course. My hearing is quite good. I can even hear the children talking downstairs from our apartment."
"But there are no children downstairs."
"I mean downstairs from our apartment."
Jim Quincy raised an eyebrow. 'She can hear them even with their doors closed?'
'Her hearing must be exceptionally good.'
He openly escorted Cecilia Adler into his workplace.
Everyone assumed Cecilia Adler was a new employee and looked her over.
