The next day, Cecilia Adler didn't go back to her parents' house.
Because Ian Quincy said he was going to stay near the competition venue the night before, she spent the whole day at home.
She packed a change of clothes for him and made some snacks.
She made a small nest for the pearl bird.
She was busy all day long.
Just before Ian Quincy left, she asked as if she had just remembered, "When will the competition be over?"
"I'll be back on the sixth."
"It's a week-long competition?" Cecilia Adler thought to herself, 'What kind of competition takes that many days?'
Ian Quincy didn't give a definite answer. "I'll try to come back earlier."
"Okay, I'll wait for you at home." Cecilia Adler saw him off to his car, and only turned to go back inside after it had driven far away.
With one person gone, the house felt empty and quiet.
That night, when she went to bed, Cecilia Adler couldn't sleep.
