"Oh, so you care less and less about me now. You got gifts for Mom and Ian, but nothing for me."
His hand froze, and he seemed to be genuinely mulling it over. "No wonder they say you don't appreciate what you have once you've got it. So it's true."
Naomi laughed, amused. "Alright, I'll stop teasing you. I already got you a gift. I remember that you love the pastries from Warren's Pastries, so I bought some for you. Do you want to try one now?"
Ethan nodded.
Naomi brought the pastries over. "I had the housekeeper keep them warm, so they should still be hot. Try one and see if you like it."
Ethan opened the box, took out a piece, and held it to Naomi's lips. "You try it."
Naomi took a bite. "It's sweet, but not cloying."
Ethan popped the remaining half of the pastry into his own mouth. "It really is sweet."
Feeding each other one bite at a time, they quickly finished nearly half the box of pastries.
