"Please don't be hurt. Please, whatever you do, don't be hurt..."
Yu Suye prayed desperately as she pedaled the blue bicycle beneath her with frantic speed.
She rang her bell nonstop, weaving past car after car on the road, past the pedestrians in front of her.
But it still wasn't fast enough.
The wind whipped her hair into a frenzy behind her, and stray strands lashed against her face.
The ride should have only taken three or four minutes, but to Yu Suye, it felt like an eternity...
Finally, she saw the accident scene up ahead.
A crowd of twenty or thirty people had gathered not far ahead.
Peeking through the gaps in the crowd, Yu Suye could see an orange-red sports car on the sidewalk, its hazard lights blinking.
She saw the storefront next to it. Its floor-to-ceiling windows were completely shattered, and the shelves inside were in total disarray.
As she rode closer, Yu Suye also saw a toppled-over rental bike.
