After looking at the sky for too long, I realized that I have no way of knowing the time. We are lucky on Earth that we can somehow manage to guess just by looking at the sky.
How on earth am I going to guess in this situation?
Out of frustration, I can feel tears flowing down my face.
Oh well.
I need to take a look at my surroundings first. I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky that the street seems deserted, but I should probably hurry up and learn more about my surroundings before I see more of those creatures and beings.
The street I'm currently on looks straight out of the Renaissance period. I'm standing beside a multi-story Renaissance-style house. What makes this different from "Renaissance Earth" is that each floor is a different, brightly painted color, looking as if a child painted it. Thankfully, the trees look like Earth trees, but they are moving. LIKE LITERALLY MOVING.
How is it moving, you may ask? Just imagine a person dancing with no face.
Right.
I knew that any sane person would freak out.
After staring at the trees for a few seconds or minutes, I can assure myself that they won't attack me. So it's time to cautiously explore the place and find a safe spot.
Honestly, how do these characters in novels manage to adjust in such a short amount of time? Just how?!
Oh well, it's my first day after all. I think.
I tried walking towards the end of the street. Somehow, it got darker and I had a bad feeling that if I continued, I wouldn't make it out alive. Thank goodness for my instinct. Seriously, listen to your instinct.
So I went back to the spot where I had left earlier and sat down. Now, I'm faced with four choices:
1. Go outside the gate
2. Stay where I am. For what? It's not like someone is going to rescue me.
3. Explore the end of the street and get killed.
4. Try to blend in and meet the world's "people", hoping I won't get killed or worse.
So I decided to take my chances with the freaky trees.
Here goes nothing.
....
All sorts of extremely colorful expletives came out of my mouth as I ran in a panic.
I didn't know trees could run!
Especially faceless trees!
....
Apparently, this is becoming a horror story. I'm hoping it won't actually turn out to be one or I'll lose my sanity.
After what seemed like ages, I found a small cave in the forest. When I say "small cave", I mean one you literally have to crawl into. Fortunately, the inside was big enough for me to stand up, though my head reached the ceiling.
It's a bit warm in here and there are no other openings, so I think this will be my hiding place for now.
I need to rest and sleep.
I don't need to eat right now. Since I'm used to skipping meals, I think I can survive, but I should probably find water when I wake up.
....
When I woke up, after what seemed like several hours of sleeping, I decided to go out of the cave because it felt a bit cramped.
I crawled out and stretched my body.
The surroundings feel a bit peaceful but quiet. I've seen enough to freak me out, but I've had enough of being scared. If I die, then I die.
It's definitely night time now and the night sky is gorgeous. I saw the giant planet and somehow it looks comforting. I saw several small moons and it looks like Earth's moon, multiplied many times over.
The color of the night sky is unlike anything I've seen before. It's a dark blue with a deep violet hue, filled with so many stars, moons and the giant planet. It's so beautiful. I can see several comets passing by, though I'm not sure if they are actually comets.
But the color... wow! It looks like a stone of gold passing through, with streaks of gold behind.
It's so hard to describe what I've seen because it's so different from what I've seen on Earth.
I tried walking with no particular destination. If I die, then I die. Suddenly, I heard a stream of flowing water.
So I tried walking towards the sound and lo and behold, it's a small river. The river looks like glass. Small flowers are beside it and it smells heavenly. The flowers look normal, but different. So, I cautiously went beside the river.
I tried touching the flowers and they felt so soft and smooth. They smelled light and sweet, like cotton candy with a sprinkle of honey. They come in different colors such as yellow, red and orange. Should I try tasting a petal just to check if it's edible? After all, they smell good and it seems like anything that smells good must be safe to eat.
So, I tried putting one petal in my mouth.
I was wrong.
Ew!
Disgusting!
....
The water tasted good though. It was fresh, cool and a bit sweet, like water with mint.
Somehow refreshed, I finally have the energy to start exploring. Before, I used to be afraid to explore by myself. But with no one to turn to, I had to force myself or else I would lose my sanity.
After walking for a while, I noticed that although the trees seemed normal, the ones with different colors could move. Obviously. But somehow, when I tried walking and ignoring them, they wouldn't attack or touch me.
Good.
Because I'm still a bit freaked out.
Now with my adrenaline rushing and so much energy from my sleep, I feel daring enough to go back to where I first arrived.
Of course I won't just walk through the gates like I have endless lives or something.
So I tried peeking by the gates while ignoring the faceless trees trying to come near me.
Hmmm. They seemed to like me.
The gate had stopped moving, so I tried to go inside. The faceless trees must have sensed something, they seemed to be freaking out. One short faceless tree came near me, its branches quivering.
I tried reassuring them that it's alright.
The color of its leaves is pink. I named it Pinky. It seems to like its new name since it is dancing!
+1 for trying to survive with sanity still intact.
