During this period on Hachinosu, the Marines had repeatedly sent people to negotiate with the Phoenix Pirates, trying to arrange a prisoner exchange for Kizaru.

But for Marco, there was no way he was letting Kizaru go.

Kizaru was a Logia user, and capturing him this time had taken no small amount of luck.

If they released him, catching him again would be a different story entirely.

On the Moby Dick, Marco waved his subordinate away after listening to the latest report.

Half a month earlier, right after the Marines' defeat on Cake Island, Marco had proposed a counterattack on Marineford and even the Holy Land.

Kaido felt the timing wasn't right. They couldn't go to war with the World Government yet. Even so, he agreed with Marco's strategy of driving the Marines completely out of the New World.

Big Mom, on the other hand, strongly opposed any attack on the Holy Land, but she did agree to an assault on Marineford to drive the Marines out of the New World for good.

Of course, this wasn't because she truly wanted to attack Marineford. It was simply that both Kaido and Marco were set on driving the Marines out of the New World, leaving her little room to refuse.

After the battle of Cake Island, the Big Mom Pirates had lost more than half of their cadres, and nearly two-thirds of their regular members had died.

All 100,000 Homies had been completely wiped out.

They had won, but for Big Mom, it was a pyrrhic victory.

Now she didn't want to attack the Holy Land or Marineford. She only wanted to quietly lick her wounds.

If she hadn't been afraid of being isolated, she wouldn't have wanted to provoke the Marines at all.

"Marco…" Jinbe walked over just then, looking at Marco, who was playing cards with a few division commanders, and reported, "We've already sent the Marines away."

Marco nodded slightly, eyes still on his hand of cards, and said, "If they're sent away, then they're sent away. If they want to exchange people, other Marines are fine, but Kizaru absolutely cannot be exchanged."

Jinbe answered, his tone more serious, "The Marines are also very firm. They're willing to offer ten Devil Fruits plus 5 billion Berries to redeem all the captured Marines. Honestly, that money is mainly to redeem Kizaru. The others are probably just thrown in."

Jozu snorted with a laugh. "That much is obvious. One Kizaru is worth way more than a few thousand regular Marines."

Jinbe nodded, then added, "But we can't keep those Marines locked up forever, can we?"

Jozu folded his arms and said, "If it really doesn't work, then give this batch of Marines to Big Mom! Hasn't she been wanting them all this time? We'll just do her a favor and hand them over!"

Marco thought for a moment, then said, "Giving them to her isn't impossible."

"Anyway, if we keep these several thousand Marines locked up, we'll have to feed them. That's just a waste of food. But if we hand them over to Big Mom, she should at least give us some benefits, right? Otherwise, no matter how you look at it, it feels like a loss."

"My dear."

Garett walked over to Marco's side just then. She glanced at Marco, then at Jozu and Vista sitting with him, cards in hand, a hint of hesitation on her face. "I have something I want to tell you…"

Vista looked up, a smile tugging at his lips. "Then we'll stop here for now. Since our sister-in-law is looking for you, we won't get in the way."

"Hey, come on, I've got a good hand!" Marco watched as Jozu and Vista casually folded their cards and stood up, and could only stare, a little speechless.

He turned to Garett—his wife in name—and waved her over, motioning for her to sit.

Garett sat down beside him, naturally looping her arm through his and leaning her whole body against him.

Marco gently drew her into his embrace.

They had been married for some time now, and their relationship had grown quite good.

When Garett had first come aboard the Phoenix Pirates' ship, she'd still kept a bit of distance. Marco, not being the proactive type, hadn't pushed, so even as husband and wife, things between them had been plain and uneventful at the start.

But as time passed, Garett gradually opened her heart to him completely.

Marco, in turn, accepted her. After all, Garett treated him very well—she was beautiful, gentle, and obedient. That alone left Marco very satisfied.

Marco asked bluntly, "Go on. What is it?"

Garett's expression turned more serious. "Dear, Mama just called. She hopes I can persuade you to hand over those several thousand Marines to her."

"That's all?" Marco paused for a moment, then smiled. "Alright then. Since you're the one asking, I'll give them to her."

Garett went on, "Besides that, there's one more thing. Mama asked me where the Moby Dick is headed."

At this time, the Moby Dick was already sailing outside the Phoenix Pirates' territory. As for its destination, only Marco knew.

Hearing this, a chill flashed in Marco's eyes. "So you're here to ask me about that."

Garett quickly shook her head and explained, "No. If my dear doesn't say, I know you must have your own reasons. I won't ask about things I shouldn't."

Marco let out a faint smile. "Actually, it's fine to tell you. We'll be arriving soon anyway. The place I'm going is Zou."

"Zou?" Garett repeated, slightly puzzled.

She had heard of that island before, but had never been there herself.

As a smart woman, she naturally didn't ask why Marco was going to Zou. Instead, she immediately promised, "Don't worry, I absolutely won't tell Mama about this. What I want to talk about is something else—something I've been holding in for a long time."

"What is it?" Marco looked at Garett, curiosity flickering in his eyes.

Garett's gaze softened, full of affection. "My dear, ever since I married you, I've belonged to you. But Mama makes me send her daily reports about you…"

At that, Garett's expression turned uneasy. Marco, however, didn't look surprised. "And then?" he asked calmly.

Garett bit her pink lower lip, then spoke with a serious look. "I only told Mama some trivial things about my daily life. I absolutely didn't leak any information about the Phoenix Pirates. We haven't been married for long, but as your wife… I don't want to hide this from you anymore. I'm sorry."

"It's alright." Marco gave her a small, gentle smile. "I'm glad you're telling me this. Don't worry. We're husband and wife, and I'm truly happy you can be honest with me."

He really didn't mind that Garett had reported to Big Mom before. He'd never shared any core matters of the Phoenix Pirates with her anyway. Most decisions he made on his own without discussing them with anyone. Even with his commanders, the so‑called "discussions" were usually just formalities—more like notifications.

Even if Garett had wanted to dig for information, there was no way for her to get to anything important.

"No, if it were only that, it wouldn't be a problem." Garett shook her head. "Recently, Mama gave me another task that… makes me really embarrassed."

Her face flushed red as she continued indignantly, "Mama actually ordered me to collect your semen and hand it over to her…"

"What?" Marco shot up from the sofa, staring at her in disbelief. "You didn't actually give it to her, did you?!"

They were a normal married couple, had held a proper wedding, and shared a bed every night. If Garett had really wanted to collect something like that, she easily could have.

"No!" Garett's face grew even redder as she protested, flustered. "You're my husband—how could I possibly do something like that!"

Marco let out the breath he'd been holding. If Big Mom wanted his "stuff," there was no way it would be for anything good.

As if eager to prove herself, Garett straightened and said earnestly, "I will absolutely never betray you. Even if it means becoming Mama's enemy, I'll stand by your side. How about I send her false information instead?"

Marco smiled helplessly. "No need. Just ignore her. You're my wife now. If she dares lay a hand on you, I won't let her off."

Garett nodded softly, then buried her face in his chest.

During her time with the Phoenix Pirates, she had felt a tenderness she'd never known before. Marco and the other Commanders were all gentle with her, and for the first time, Garett felt what real family warmth was like.

Within the Big Mom Pirates, even blood ties couldn't stop the constant scheming between siblings. Above all stood Mama herself—though she was their mother, she was terrifyingly cruel to her own children. Whenever Garett faced Big Mom, she was always gripped by fear.

After marrying Marco, Garett had expected to keep living that same fearful life. She never imagined he would give her so much freedom and respect. That kindness moved her more deeply than she knew how to express.

She desperately wanted to do something for Marco in return, yet every time she tried to think of a way, she came up empty-handed.
