Chapter 283 - Chapter 283: Armored Train

"Captain!" The desperate cries of his subordinates, along with the unbearable creaking of steel as the warship twisted under strain, made this Middle Easterner captain understand—his ship was finished.

On the deck, sailors and gunners scrambled to jump overboard, fighting to survive. None of them wanted to sink into the sea along with the warship.

Originally, the captain stood numbly on the disintegrating vessel, with no will to survive. As the captain, going down with his ship didn't seem like a bad end.

But there were still loyal subordinates who dragged him along as they leapt off the deck to escape.

Splash! Salty seawater flooded into his mouth. Struggling, the captain opened his eyes—but what he saw made his soul tremble.

A colossal creature with blood-red eyes swung its tail, the dorsal fins on its back gleaming coldly. That gray-white Titan body… so this was the thing that destroyed their fleet?

Before he could think further, he surfaced, clutching a wooden plank handed to him by a subordinate, drifting blankly in the sea while watching the pale shadow swimming beneath the surface.

Suddenly, before he could react, a splash exploded beside him. The smell of blood instantly filled his nose. Severed limbs dyed the sea red, and the shockwave from a shell blast left his mind reeling.

In his daze, he saw that it was a nearby warship firing.

But why were they firing at them?

They were all part of the same Middle Eastern navy—weren't they allies?

A moment later, realization struck him.

Right… hadn't he just fired at his own people earlier?

Why?

Because he was afraid of death.

That pale shadow… was death itself.

So that was it.

Fear.

A faint smile appeared on the captain's face.

The next moment, a shell exploded beside him.

Beneath the sea, a blood-stained military cap slowly sank.

...

"There! That place needs support! Hurry!"

Upon receiving the command, the Middle Eastern artillery immediately unleashed a barrage at a cluster of Titans inside Fort Slava. Dozens of Titans were instantly blasted into bloody fragments.

Atop several of the tallest towers in Fort Slava, the Middle Easterners had set up multiple artillery positions. From their high vantage point, they overlooked the entire fortress, providing fire support in all directions.

The thirty-meter-high towers also meant those drooling, mindless Titans could only stretch their arms uselessly, grasping at nothing.

But just as the Middle Eastern soldiers fought desperately to return fire, a terrifying screech suddenly echoed from the sky.

The piercing sound made them clutch their ears in agony.

Forcing themselves to look up, their eyes widened in shock.

In the sky, an enormous body—unlike anything they had ever seen—was flying toward them at high speed, its wings even larger than its own body.

"What kind of monster is that?" one soldier muttered in disbelief.

A flying Titan?

"Watch out! It's coming! Stay alert!" another soldier shouted, warning his comrades.

Many soldiers grabbed their rifles and aimed at the sky. If the cannons weren't so heavy, they would have preferred to aim those upward instead.

"It's here!"

In an instant, the Airwing Titan reached the top of the tower.

Its crimson eyes and demonic face turned the soldiers pale with fear. The powerful air currents generated by its wings made it hard for them to even breathe.

"Fire!" a soldier roared.

Gunfire erupted like popping beans as countless bullets shot toward the Airwing Titan.

Trying to kill a Titan with bullets might be the greatest joke in the world.

These soldiers quickly came to understand that truth—but unfortunately, they would never have the chance to tell anyone else that joke.

As it dived, the Airwing Titan extended its claws.

Sharp, slender, curved like scimitars—

Whether it was the bodies of the soldiers or the steel cannons, everything was sliced apart like tofu the moment it touched those claws.

The Airwing Titan swept past, and the tower instantly turned into a crimson hell.

Yet it showed no mercy.

Adjusting its posture midair, it dived again, over and over, until not a single trace of life remained on the tower.

Only then did it flap its wings and soar back into the sky, heading toward the next target tower.

"Heh, looks like we don't even need to make a move. These Middle Easterners really can't take much of a beating. Wasn't it said the doctor secretly helped them?" Ivanor sat on a rock, idly playing with her golden hair.

Beside her, Bazel folded his arms.

"The doctor was willing to help, but those stubborn Middle Eastern fools refused it. If we don't have to act, that's even better."

As he spoke, golden lightning flashed.

The agile Claw Titan rushed through the breach opened by the Armored Titan, charging into the fortress and beginning a massacre.

The Cart Titan, carrying its armored load, also charged toward Fort Slava on all fours. Behind it followed countless advancing Marleyan and Eldian soldiers.

"But I'm bored. Miss Airi isn't here either." Ivanor pinched her cheek and sighed regretfully.

Bazel glanced at her.

Such a beautiful woman, yet her preferences were so strange. What a waste.

"Hey, Bazel, what kind of look is that? Got something against me?" Ivanor noticed his odd mix of pity and disdain, and it made her uncomfortable.

Bazel narrowed his eyes.

"No, no, nothing at all. You're imagining things."

"But you—"

Before Ivanor could continue, a sharp whistle suddenly drew their attention.

They saw the Armored Titan staggering backward out of Fort Slava's gate.

It looked miserable.

Its body was charred black, like burnt coal, riddled with dents and wounds. Its left arm was completely gone, and the bone shield on its right arm was half shattered.

Clang! Clang!

Accompanied by the sound of steam, a ferocious black steel beast appeared before them.

Covered entirely in pure steel armor dozens of centimeters thick, with dozens of cannon barrels thicker than a human body—

The Middle Easterners' ultimate weapon had arrived.

The anti-Titan armored train.

Ivanor straightened up, her face suddenly flushing with excitement as she stared at the monstrous machine.

"This is interesting! This is interesting! Haha—even the Armored Titan couldn't handle it. I want to try this!"

Bazel stroked his chin, looking thoughtful as he observed the armored train.

But Ivanor had already pulled out a dagger and stabbed it into her palm.

Bazel simply shrugged.

"Alright then, go ahead."
