Chapter 418 - Honest Answers: Roles

Arvin felt relieved seeing Kaydan smiling broadly at him. In his eyes, the face of his spouse, smiling so genuinely at him, looked incredibly cute and charming.

However, just as Arvin was swept away, enjoying the beautiful smile on his tenth spouse's face, a demanding voice suddenly rang out, forcing him to immediately shift his gaze away from Kaydan.

"Then... what about those of us who were not romantic targets in that game? Why did you make us your spouses?"

Arvin looked at the faces of his spouses one by one as they waited for an answer. Instead of weaving a sweet lie or a poetic excuse, he chose to answer them honestly.

"Because in my eyes, your faces are incredibly cute!" Arvin answered bluntly, his voice flowing casually without the slightest intention of hiding his personal desires. "I am not a hypocrite. After all, this is not Earth. I have a second chance in this new world, and I must make the best use of it to win the hearts of the boys who have caught my attention."

Hearing such honesty, the atmosphere in the lounge instantly tensed. Several of the youths furrowed their brows, feeling as though the sincerity of their love was being measured by mere physical attraction.

"Do you just want to play with our feelings?" Calverd suddenly interjected. The youth glared at Arvin with a sharp gaze. "We sincerely chose you to be our husband. In your eyes, are we nothing more than toys to kill the time?"

Calverd's question felt very piercing, but Arvin did not feel offended in the slightest. On the contrary, he realized that his recent honesty required a deeper explanation so as not to hurt the hearts of the people he loved.

He shook his head firmly. His initially relaxed gaze now turned incredibly serious.

"I truly love all of you!" Arvin answered in a straightforward tone. "Physical attraction might have been the first thing that made me look at you, but my feelings for you are sincere. There is not a single ounce of intention in my heart to play with your feelings."

However, after hearing that answer, an even greater curiosity arose.

"Then..." Alrian's voice rang out, breaking the awkwardness. "...what is your real reason for choosing all of us to be part of a household with such a large family?"

Hearing the critical question coming from the mouth of his fifth spouse, Arvin only let out a short sigh. He then looked straight at Alrian with a much deeper gaze.

"On Earth, you could never live freely enough to build a harem this large. Not only does it violate social norms, but it's also extremely dangerous." Arvin began his explanation. "And this danger does not only threaten those in same-sex marriages. Those with a heterosexual orientation are also not exempt from this horrifying threat."

Hearing the head of the family's incredibly serious explanation, all the youths in the lounge were dying to know what kind of threat existed in their husband's original world that made such a thing sound so taboo.

"Danger?" Alrain repeated in confusion. "What danger would you face if you built a harem there?"

"Aside from the judgment and scrutiny of the people around you, there is another reason far more terrifying than that." Arvin explained honestly. "That danger is a disease. A deadly disease transmitted through intimate contact or when a carrier's blood enters your body."

Arvin looked at the faces of his spouses one by one again as he continued his explanation.

"The disease doesn't kill the sufferer immediately. It hides within the blood, then slowly devours a person's immune system from the inside. To this day, there is no cure for this disease."

A deadly, incurable disease instantly shocked all of Arvin's spouses beyond belief. In the magical world they lived in, almost all poisons and illnesses could be cured with alchemical potions or high-tier healing magic.

The fact that in Arvin's home world, which supposedly possessed advanced technology, there existed an incurable disease, felt absolutely terrifying.

However, at the same time, this fact made them even more perplexed by the head of the household's decision regarding their family life.

"But, if the disease is truly that terrifying, why do you dare to build a harem here? Are you not afraid that one day such a disease might appear and devour your body, and all of ours?"

"No! I don't need to worry about that!" Arvin answered confidently. "The body I possess right now is an immortal body after drinking the Elixir of Immortality. I have absolute immunity against all types of poisons and diseases. Therefore, any kind of deadly disease from Earth could never survive inside my body. Because every single second, all the cells in my body continuously regenerate and destroy any anomalies present within."

Arvin once again looked at the faces of his spouses, one by one.

"Besides, my main reason for making you my spouses isn't solely to satisfy my feelings." Arvin said, his tone now filled with authority. "Beyond your status as my spouses, each of you holds an extremely vital role within this little kingdom of mine."

"Roles?" Alrian repeated curiously, his eyebrows raised. "What roles do we have in this household that ultimately made you choose us as your spouses?"

Hearing that question, Arvin smiled faintly. He began explaining each of their duties as if arranging the perfect chess pieces.

"Starting with Allen and Alrain." Arvin said, looking toward his first and second spouses. "The two of you are my left and right hands. You have the role of taking my place as leaders whenever I am not with you."

Arvin then shifted his gaze, looking alternately at the red-haired youth, the bluish-white-haired youth, and the gray-haired youth sitting on the sofa.

"Ordion with his fire magic, Kylen with his highly corrosive hard water magic, and Kaydan with his gravity and sand manipulation magic. The three of you possess large-scale destructive magic. You will act as destroyers against anyone who dares to disturb our family's peace."

His gaze shifted again. Now, he looked alternately at the silver-haired youth, the green-haired youth, and the indigo-haired youth.

"Then, Alvein with his invisible magic, Alrian with his gender manipulation magic, and Calverd with his telekinesis magic have the roles of infiltrators, spies, and scouts who will gather information."

Arvin then turned toward the brownish-white-haired youth.

"Davin. The gate magic you possess is the heart of this family's mobility. You play an extremely important role in mobilizing everyone's movements and distributing our logistics to any place in the blink of an eye."

He then looked toward the black-haired youth and the yellow-haired youth.

"Dylan, with your darkness magic capable of mental attacks, and Oliver, with your incredibly brilliant brain and manipulative nature, the two of you have the role of interrogating and breaking the minds of our enemies."

He turned to the purple-haired youth.

"Victor, with your mud magic, you can create a series of quicksand traps capable of swallowing everything, paralyzing dozens of enemy troops before they even realize where they are stepping."

"And Arion." Arvin continued, turning to the reddish-yellow-haired youth. "With your alchemy magic, you play a vital role in creating magical tools, as well as working directly to assist Victor with every trap he makes."

After listing the roles of all the spouses present in the lounge, Arvin gave a meaningful smile. He gazed out the window, imagining the two figures who would soon complete their family.

"Elenora, with her foresight magic, will ensure we take swift anticipatory actions. This is incredibly crucial to prevent any of us from making a fatal mistake once we know what the future holds." he continued in a steady tone. "And as for Savin, Elenora's younger brother, his role is to uncover the truth behind every past event that has remained hidden using his hindsight magic."
