Gengar's sudden sneak attack immediately took Officer Jenny—the only human trainer present—and her Pokémon out of the fight.
Clearly, this trap had been set from the moment the enemy appeared, aiming to capture everyone here in one fell swoop.
"D-damn it!" Jenny reached for the walkie-talkie on her belt, but a ghostly hand snatched it first. Gengar swiftly handed the device over to its trainer.
"Well done, Gengar," the bespectacled woman said, a sinister aura swirling around her, perfectly matching her ghost Pokémon. "Stay put, Officer Jenny. Once we've dealt with Miss Lala, we'll handle you next."
With Jenny subdued, the group became even more brazen. Kadabra waved its spoon, sending a burst of psychic energy directly toward Lala, completely ignoring Ray Chu and Dapple.
"Fetch'd!" Dapple abruptly stepped in front of Lala, her leek glowing white as she slashed through the air. The invisible psychic wave collided violently with the leek, splitting in half and scattering harmlessly.
"Puff!" Lala cried out in joy.
Dapple turned her head slightly, confidently flashing a reassuring thumbs-up.
The woman's face darkened. How dare a mere Farfetch'd stand against them? "Take them down."
Pop! Pop! Pop!
More Poké Balls flew into the air, releasing a wave of Pokémon onto the scene—Mankey, Poliwrath, Victreebel, Magneton—each growling menacingly as they converged on Ray Chu.
"Farfetch'd!" Dapple shouted, lunging forward first. Her leek danced furiously, striking multiple opponents and sending them yelping in pain. Immediately after, a barrage of Air Slash, Hydro Pump, Vine Whip, and Electro Ball attacks surged toward her simultaneously.
Unfazed, Dapple spun rapidly, deflecting the assault from all sides before spreading her wings and soaring skyward.
Indeed, as a Flying-type Pokémon, aerial combat was her specialty. Taking the fight from land to air, she deftly maneuvered, separating opponents and picking them off one by one with masterful swordplay.
However, the true deciding battle was elsewhere.
"Kadabra, use [DISABLE]!"
Kadabra nodded, holding its spoon aloft. A blue beam shot straight toward Lala, only to be halted abruptly by a shimmering, translucent barrier. Ray Chu stood firm, arms spread, maintaining the Light Screen between friend and foe.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
Tentacruel's Poison Sting rapidly followed, similarly blocked by the barrier. Its trainer, clearly experienced, adjusted immediately. "Tentacruel, [BUBBLE BEAM]!"
Tentacruel unleashed a piercing cry as countless bubbles spewed from its gaping maw. Seemingly fragile, these bubbles held astonishing force, crashing violently against the barrier.
Boom! Both Light Screen and Bubble Beam shattered simultaneously, dissolving into a powerful shockwave.
Yet Ray Chu's effortless blocking of two powerful Pokémon's attacks made everyone pause in shock.
"That Pikachu!" The woman fixed Ray Chu with a hard stare. Such strength was far from ordinary. She had no idea where Lala had found such a formidable ally.
"Gengar, you join in too!"
Gengar snickered as its body vanished, instantly reappearing from Ray Chu's shadow, clutching a Shadow Ball ready to strike.
"Puff!" Lala shouted in alarm, but suddenly, Ray Chu's body burst forth with a blazing sunlight-like glow. Gengar shrieked and recoiled, its shadowy body bearing clear burn marks.
"Gaaah!" Gengar stared at Ray Chu in horror. In that instant, it had felt an overwhelming sense of danger. The strange energy the Pikachu emitted cut into it like facing a natural predator.
Ray Chu himself hadn't expected his casual experiment with Hamon would have such a devastating effect against Ghost-type Pokémon. Despite coming from different worlds, power attributes remained consistent. Perhaps Hamon was unexpectedly effective against Ghost and Dark types.
Across the field, after briefly questioning Gengar, the bespectacled woman grew even more convinced something was unusual about this Pikachu—especially since no human trainer was anywhere in sight.
These two seemingly harmless Pokémon—a Pikachu and a Farfetch'd—had somehow appeared from nowhere and neutralized her strongest fighters.
But securing Lala remained their priority. This was precisely why the company dispatched elite trainers and high-level Pokémon.
"Kadabra, Tentacruel, Gengar, finish this quickly! Attack together!"
At the woman's order, her three strongest Pokémon surrounded Ray Chu, clearly intending to overwhelm him.
Ray Chu sighed inwardly. Villains always seemed inexplicably confident, and their common trait was ganging up on a lone target.
"Kadabra, [CONFUSION]!"
Kadabra swiftly pointed its spoon, aiming psychic force to immobilize Ray Chu. But Ray Chu calmly raised a single paw, unleashing an overwhelmingly powerful telekinetic blast that shredded Kadabra's attack, lifted it off the ground, and hurled it straight into Tentacruel's incoming Icy Wind.
Kadabra struggled briefly midair before instantly freezing solid. Tentacruel stared, dumbfounded, never expecting to hit its ally.
"Now's the chance!" With practiced battle instincts, Ray Chu wasn't about to let this opportunity pass. In a flicker of lightning, he appeared beside Tentacruel. Raising both paws, he effortlessly lifted the Pokémon off the ground, swiftly tying its flailing tentacles into knots, leaving the jellyfish Pokémon squirming helplessly in a tangled heap.
The psychic powers he had gained from Shenron had proven far stronger than ordinary Psychic-type Pokémon.
Two mighty Pokémon defeated without even touching Ray Chu. The woman trembled—not out of anger, but sheer dread. If Lala escaped on her watch, the losses would be catastrophic, and she would personally face severe punishment.
"Gengar, quickly! Use [NIGHT SHADE]!"
Concern for public image forgotten, desperation took over. The high-level Gengar summoned from the company unleashed a terrifyingly expansive Night Shade, a massive, indiscriminate attack engulfing the entire area.
Ray Chu bore the brunt. The monstrous shadow, over a dozen meters tall, loomed ominously, dwarfing his small frame.
A colossal hand of darkness descended, radiating an icy pressure so intense that every Pokémon on the battlefield felt chills down to their bones.
But in the next instant, dazzling golden light sliced through the darkness—a radiant beam tearing apart the shadows, scattering them like dawn breaking through night, bringing renewed hope and freedom to the world!
