Cherreads

Chapter 34 - Chapter 33:A promise to the sky

The days after Children's Day passed quietly, but Riya's thoughts were anything but peaceful.

She had already admitted to herself that she liked Lakshith.

Yet another question kept returning to her mind again and again.

'Should I really

continue feeling like this?'

She was still young, but Riya knew that emotions could sometimes lead people into pain.

Part of her wondered if it would be easier to simply forget everything before her feelings grew deeper.

That weekend, while sitting alone at home, a strange idea came to her mind.

"If I can't decide… maybe God can," she whispered softly.

Her mother had gone upstairs to dry the clothes on the terrace.

The house was quiet.

Riya quickly went to her room and took two small pieces of paper.

On one paper she filled

Chrysanthemum

On the other she filled

Rose

She carefully folded both papers into small packets so that she couldn't see the flower petals inside.

Riya sat on the floor, holding both folded papers tightly in her hands.

She closed her eyes and prayed quietly.

"If chrysanthemum comes more times, I will stop thinking

about him somehow"

she murmured.

"But if rose comes more times… I will never leave this love for my whole life."

Her heart beat nervously.

She shook both packets together in her palms and placed them on the floor.

Then she picked one.

Slowly, she opened it.

Chrysanthemum.

Her shoulders dropped immediately.

A small wave of disappointment filled her chest.

"Maybe… maybe this is the answer," she whispered sadly.

But she still had two more chances.

Taking a deep breath, Riya folded the papers again and shook

them once more.

Her fingers trembled slightly as she chose the second paper.

She opened it carefully.

Rose.

Her eyes widened instantly.

A bright smile appeared on her face without her realizing it.

One more round remained.

Now her heart was beating even faster.

What if it's chrysanthemum again? she wondered nervously. Then everything will just become equal…

She swallowed softly and shook the papers one final time.

For a moment, she stared at both packets lying on the floor.

Then she picked one.

Her hands felt slightly cold as she slowly unfolded the paper.

Rose.

For a few seconds, Riya simply stared at the word.

Then a wave of happiness rushed through her.

She clutched the small paper tightly and looked up toward the sky through the window.

In that moment, she made a promise—both to God and to herself.

"He is the only one in my life,"

she whispered softly.

"Even if things go wrong… even if life doesn't turn out the way I hope… I will never change this feeling."

Her voice became quieter but more determined.

"He was the one… and he will always be the only one."

Riya closed her eyes gently.

"Please give me the strength to face whatever comes in the future."

Outside, the afternoon breeze moved the curtains slightly.

And somewhere deep in her heart, a young girl sealed a promise she didn't yet understand the weight of.
