Chapter 287 - Black Reaper Project 1

Translator: CinderTL

Old Day City East Supply Zone, Death Star Third Battle Group Headquarters.

6:00 AM.

Feng Qi, already awake, left his quarters in a thin training uniform, heading toward the open-air training grounds within the Garrison Manor.

As he passed through the orchard, he casually picked a few fruits to stave off his hunger.

Ten minutes later, he arrived at the training grounds located in the rear-left corner of the Garrison Manor.

The training grounds were larger than a football field and divided into three sections. The left side was dedicated to equipment training, with rows of neatly arranged machines for strength, coordination, speed, and other physical conditioning.

The right side was for weapons training. Three rows of weapon racks displayed blunt weapons, sharp weapons, and concealed weapons. At the front, a row of targets stood ready for art magic accuracy tests.

The central area served as a sparring ground, its surface covered with a thick layer of soft sand, used by the garrison's soldiers for combat practice.

Though less comprehensive than the indoor training facilities, the open-air training grounds remained one of the most vital areas within the Death Star Garrison.

Feng Qi jogged to the equipment training area and began his adaptive physical conditioning routine.

His training of the Crimson Left Arm was particularly important.

Although the new arm had already fused with his body, its compatibility with the Demon Dragon Rune Crystal remained low.

To improve this fusion, he now had to perform high-intensity training on the left arm daily, just as he had done at the Scarlet Research Institute.

He had to admit, however, that the arm crafted by the Lord of the Mist was significantly stronger than his previous one.

Moreover, the Lord of the Mist had condensed a blood core within the arm, granting him the ability to absorb qi blood.

The conversion efficiency of qi blood was still low, averaging only 1-3%. Nevertheless, this new arm had undeniably enhanced his physical capabilities.

After a brief warm-up, Feng Qi raised the Crimson Left Arm and made a grasping motion toward a wooden barrel placed nearby.

Instantly, the domain creature blood within the barrel was drawn by the "blood core" in the Crimson Left Arm, levitating in the air and continuously shifting its form.

With another wave of his hand, the blood surged toward him, finally hovering in his palm.

Instead of absorbing the blood, Feng Qi guided it back into the barrel.

This was one of his training methods over the past few days.

Mastering blood control could prove unexpectedly effective in combat.

For instance, if an opponent is condensing art magic, suddenly accelerating the flow of blood within their body could very likely disrupt the formation of their spell trajectory.

In recent days, the Lord of the Mist had taught him many techniques for controlling blood, which had greatly benefited him.

However, his blood control strength was clearly no match for the Lord of the Mist; the gap was not insignificant.

After several hours of intense training, Feng Qi was drenched in sweat.

He flipped down from his handstand, where he had been balancing on his index finger, and strode directly toward the residential area.

After washing up in his room, he changed into fresh clothes and went to the Group Commander's Office.

Pushing the door open, he saw the Lord of the Mist, his expression serious, tapping away on a tablet.

Feng Qi walked straight to the desk, sat down, poured himself a cup of tea, and smiled.

"What's wrong? Did that Mu Qing girl do something major again?"

"Her Dawn Battle Group has been promoted to A-Rank, and they're just one step away from becoming an S-Class Combat Team... After reviewing the detailed mission logs from her recent joint operations, I can't help but feel the gap between her strength and mine is growing wider."

Realizing the Lord of the Mist was indeed worried about Xiao Muqing's growth, he grinned.

"Why do you care so much about her? Could her potential truly surpass yours?"

Hearing this, the Lord of the Mist couldn't help but glare up. "I can't help but feel a hint of schadenfreude in your tone."

"Not at all. Don't read too much into it. I'm just curious why you're so focused on her."

"I don't want to be, but lately, she's been all over the newsโ€”front-page headlines in war reports. It's impossible to avoid... Damn it, seeing her name so often is starting to get on my nerves."

After draining his tea, he smiled and said, "Old Mist, tell me more about your assessment of her."

"Absolutely exceptional physical prowess, combat intuition that borders on instinct, and a jade-colored mist that flows over her skin, possessing near-indestructible properties..."

As he spoke, Mu Qing's image involuntarily surfaced in the Lord of the Mist's mind.

Especially when he mentioned her berserk state, the mysterious beast materializing behind her back, his expression turned grave.

When he stood before Mu Qing, he even felt as if he were facing not a human, but a monstrous beast wreathed in demonic flames, its world-dominating aura suffocating him.

Feng Qi listened intently to the Lord of the Mist's account.

The origin of the rune crystal on Mu Qing's body remained a mystery, and he hoped to glean some information about it from the Lord of the Mist.

But it was clear the Lord of the Mist knew nothing about it.

During their conversation, the Lord of the Mist described his feelings when facing Mu Qing: like an ordinary person encountering a famished tiger, their eyes meeting, his heart seized by uncontrollable palpitations and trembling.

This was one of the reasons Mu Qing's impression remained so vivid in his memory.

"I don't know how such a monster could have been born among humans. I even suspect she possesses a miracle item."

The Lord of the Mist sighed involuntarily as he spoke.

Hearing this, Feng Qi nodded inwardly.

Miracle items could take various forms, and a rune crystal was perfectly plausible.

Moreover, there was another piece of evidence supporting this hypothesis.

Earlier, the Lord of the Mist had speculated that miracle items might have evolved from the primal power of the Pillar Gods.

He didn't know how true this theory was.

If this speculation were true, one could infer that the Scarlet Rune Crystal on Mu Qing's body might be a crystallization of the Pillar God's primal power.

The phantom beast that the Lord of the Mist described as appearing behind Mu Qing could also be the image of a super-life form from the Pillar God era, dead for countless ages.

However, this was merely a guess based on his current information and couldn't be taken as fact.

The truth of the matter was clearly beyond his reach on this Sacrifice Line.

With a fleeting life, all he could do was follow his predetermined fate line and create value within his limited time.

The answers to many unknown truths would have to be sought by another version of himself.

After a moment of thought, he looked up at the green bracelet on the Lord of the Mist's right wrist:

"By the way, what exactly does this Miracle Bracelet do? Have you figured it out?"

The Lord of the Mist immediately shook his head:

"I've been trying to figure it out these past few days, but I'm still completely baffled about how to use it. In its inactive state, this miracle item shows no peculiar traits, and no matter how much energy I inject, I can't activate it."

"Could we have been mistaken? Is it not a miracle item?"

"I'm not mistaken. The power the humanoid leader used to summon the phantom came from this bracelet. I have a theory now... The phantom behind the humanoid leader looked very similar to the humanoid race. When the other clansmen saw it, they all knelt in worship. I suspect this bracelet can summon the power of their ancestors."
