The Justice Gundam and Freedom Gundam faced the nuclear missiles, their Multiple Lock-on Systems activating under Athrun and Kira's control.
Dense clusters of targets were selected.
As both pilots pulled their triggers, hundreds of small missiles and multiple beams fired out simultaneously.
The beams pierced through the battlefield to strike through the nuclear warheads, while the small missiles collided directly with the nuclear weapons.
In an instant,
All nuclear missiles heading toward Boaz Fortress were eliminated, with not a single one able to continue its trajectory toward the fortress.
Inside Justice Gundam's cockpit,
Athrun watched as these specially designed missiles were completely intercepted, his tense mind finally relaxing with a sigh of relief.
His gaze swept across the screen, where he saw the Rouge Strike, Blue Astray, and other MS engaged in combat with the Calamity Gundam.
Assessing the battle situation, Athrun maneuvered Justice Gundam to turn and open fire on Calamity Gundam.
The 120cm High-Energy Beam Cannon fired a thick beam.
The beam shot straight toward Calamity Gundam.
Observing the battlefield conditions, Orga controlled Calamity Gundam to evade attacks from Blue Astray and Rouge Strike, then quickly maneuvered to dodge the incoming attack from Justice Gundam.
His finger pressed the trigger, aiming the King of Road Plasma Piercing Rocket Launcher at Rouge Strike and firing.
Seeing the incoming attack, Cagalli quickly manipulated her controls. Rouge Strike first positioned its shield in front for defense, then executed evasive maneuvers across the battlefield.
While dodging, Rouge Strike aimed its Beam Rifle at Calamity Gundam and returned fire.
Orga responded by controlling Calamity Gundam to evade.
Meanwhile,
On Dominion's bridge,
Azrael watched the explosions on screen with initial shock that quickly turned to rage across his entire face. Gripping the armrests tightly, he angrily ordered,
"Continue launching nuclear missiles! I refuse to believe they can intercept every single one every time."
On the flagship of the Allied Fleet,
Trian listened to Azrael's demand and responded with a serious expression,
"I understand, Councilman."
After saying this, Trian relayed the command.
"Peace Preservation Force, return to mothership and continue nuclear armament."
"Acknowledged!"
...
As the Mobius units of the Peace Preservation Force were returning to their carriers, a pink high-speed battleship suddenly entered the battlefield.
The moment Eternal charged into the combat zone, it launched a massive volley of missiles.
"Mr. Waltfeld, please open the public channel."
On the bridge,
Lacus watched the life-and-death struggle on the battlefield with a grave expression, her voice firm as she spoke.
Andrew immediately understood her intention, nodding slightly in response before ordering,
"Aisha, switch to public channel. Our songstress has something to say."
"Understood." Aisha nodded softly and performed the necessary operations. After completing the task, she reported to Andrew and Lacus,
"Communication channel adjustment complete."
"Thank you."
Lacus glanced at Aisha with gentle appreciation.
Aisha responded with a slight smile.
Taking a deep breath at Aisha's smile, Lacus spoke with firm, resonant determination,
"Please stop this meaningless war!"
The familiar voice echoed through ZAFT Forces' communications.
Yzak maneuvered the Duel Gundam to evade an attack, then turned his gaze toward the Eternal, murmuring under his breath.
"Lacus."
Meanwhile, other ZAFT soldiers voiced their confusion.
"Miss Clyne?"
Just then, Lacus's voice continued over the communications channel.
"Brave warriors fighting on the battlefield, I implore you to lay down your weapons. Conflict should not be resolved through such means. Our long evolution has granted us the ability of speech, the capacity for thought, and the power of efficient communication!
These gifts not only distinguish us from animals but, more importantly, enable us to connect with one another, alleviate inner turmoil, resolve misunderstandings, and solve problems together.
Perhaps there are many misunderstandings and conflicts between us, but these should not be reasons for us to take up arms against each other."
Here, Lacus took a deep breath before continuing.
"Seeking common ground while reserving differences and pursuing mutual development—these are what we should strive for. Technology should not be used for warfare; it ought to be directed toward exploring the vast stars and oceans.
So, I beg all you warriors to lay down your arms and cease this meaningless war."
With that, Lacus turned to Andrew, signaling him with her eyes.
Andrew understood her intent perfectly.
He nodded to Lacus, then proceeded to relay corresponding instructions through non-verbal communication channels.
Simultaneously,
On the bridge of the Dominion, Azrael listened to Lacus's lengthy speech and chuckled lightly.
"How naive!"
After this remark, Azrael issued an order to the captain of the Dominion.
"Continue the assault! Ensure nuclear weapons are used to destroy that ZAFT fortress!"
"Yes, Councilman."
The captain of the Dominion acknowledged, opening communications to convey Azrael's directive to Trian.
Upon receiving the order, Trian commanded over the comms.
"Maintain the offensive and reassure the troops—no one is to show hesitation."
"Understood!"
...
On the battlefield,
The fighting between the Earth Alliance Forces and ZAFT Forces raged on unabated; Lacus's words had no discernible effect.
Her speech was like a brief interlude, a mere seasoning in the intensity of battle.
Once it ended, it vanished like the wind, leaving no trace behind.
On the bridge of the Eternal,
Lacus watched the completely unchanged battlefield, a flicker of sorrow passing through her brow before her expression hardened with resolve.
"It seems the only path left is to stop war with war."
"Miss Clyne, please don't be disheartened."
Andrew sensed the sorrow and disappointment in Lacus's words and offered her comfort. Hearing his reassurance, Lacus nodded calmly.
Her gaze firm as she looked ahead, she declared resolutely,
"Mr. Waltfeld, I leave the next steps to you."
"Rest assured, Miss Clyne!"
Andrew nodded, his voice filled with determination as he replied.
Aprilius City District 1
Inside the PLANT Supreme Government Office Building
In the Chairman's office
Patrick viewed the latest combat footage transmitted from near the Boaz Fortress. The sight of the Eternal, the Justice Gundam, and the Freedom Gundam immediately soured his mood.
"Lacus Clyne!"
A calm voice tinged with coldness, Patrick spoke Lacus's name aloud. Then he turned off the screen, pressing his fingers against the communicator.
"Zala, you're looking for me?"
"Ezalia, notify the other council members for a meeting!"
Hearing Ezalia's voice, Patrick gave the order. Upon hearing this, Ezalia nodded calmly in response.
"I understand."
The brief reply reached his ears, and Patrick closed the communication. Standing up, he glanced at the darkened screen and spoke with a composed expression.
"It would have been better if she hadn't defected."
Muttering these words to himself, Patrick set aside his thoughts and strode out of the office
