Warm water curled around Phei's waist while he stood alone in the resort pond, enjoying the quiet that had somehow become rarer than actual treasure in his life. Whenever he found himself alone like this, his thoughts tended to wander everywhere at once, and lately there was plenty of territory to cover. His life had become increasingly chaotic, packed with ancient conspiracies, impossible bloodlines, missions, enemies and enough family drama to bankrupt a therapist.
Yet somehow, beneath all of it, his life had also become more beautiful.
Mostly because of the family he was building from scratch.
That thought made Phei's expression soften.
He had never actually gathered all his women together and asked them how they felt about everything. About him, the harem or abbout another woman appearing, then another, then another until family dinners required seating arrangements that looked suspiciously close to conference planning.
