The prophecy came true. Kiritsugu was still suspicious—perhaps Rider was in league with a mage to trick him—but Roy could hear his every thought. Suspicious by nature, even with iron-clad proof, Roy mused. But as long as the man was a decisive killer, Roy didn't care. He was just a tool.
"The Holy Grail War... Heh, I didn't expect this little ritual in the Far East to still be going," Roy's voice sneered in his head, sounding weak yet incredibly arrogant. "Are mages still that desperate for the Root?"
Kiritsugu remained silent, trying to bait information from the "Demon God." Roy didn't mind. "You're a pitiful one, Kiritsugu. Caught in the greed of mages without even knowing the truth. Encountering me is the luckiest thing that's ever happened to you."
The dock battle ended with everyone retreating. Kiritsugu moved that night to blow up the Hyatt Hotel where Kayneth was staying.
"It's useless. You won't kill them," Roy commented. Kiritsugu ignored him and triggered the demolition. The building collapsed in a spectacular firestorm, yet Kiritsugu saw through his scope Diarmuid carrying Kayneth and his fiancée to safety.
Another accurate prediction.
"Demon God... what can you provide me?" Kiritsugu finally asked.
"For every Master or Servant soul you offer, I will give you intel or power," Roy replied.
Kiritsugu frowned. Both wanted the same thing—the deaths of their competitors—even if their ultimate goals differed.
"Aren't your words contradictory?" Kiritsugu noted. "If I lack the power, how can I seize souls for you?" He was essentially asking for a salary advance.
Roy smiled. The tool was accepting his role. "Cunning brat. Fine. I hope your body can handle it!"
Roy transferred Level 4 stats to Kiritsugu. The cold-blooded assassin gasped as a searing heat flooded his body. He had never felt strength like this. This is the power of a Demon God?! It felt on par with a Servant. Thinking of the "Demon God's" prophecy that Kayneth would come to the castle for revenge, Kiritsugu actually smirked.
The Stardust Garden.
Transferring power to Kiritsugu left Roy dizzy. "Divine Descent" was taxing on a broken body. He drifted off into a daze until the door opened.
"Sweet child, sleep now."
Goddess Astraea lay down beside him again, radiating maternal warmth. The scent of her bath lingering in the air was enough to make Roy's blood boil, instantly killing his drowsiness. Thanks to Amid's treatment and the "bedside service," Roy could finally move one hand.
With a literal goddess inches away, Roy couldn't help himself. He reached out in the dark and slid his arm around her slender waist, pulling her closer. He could feel her breath on his skin. The pain from his injuries seemed to vanish in the heat of the moment.
Astraea's brow furrowed, her face turning as red as an apple. She bit her lip and whispered, "Restrain yourself..."One cannot lie in front of a god, so Roy maintained an expression of calm indifference. "Lady Goddess, please don't pay it any mind."
Roy had discovered that as long as he spoke with a serious face, people would take him seriously no matter how outrageous the content—the art of "deadpan nonsense." However, this rule didn't seem to work particularly well on Lady Astraea.
Facing the rogue-like Roy, Astraea's deep blue eyes flared with both shame and annoyance. She reached out and gave the soft flesh at his waist a gentle pinch, though she didn't dare use much force, fearing she might actually cause him pain. Roy, acting like a "dead pig unafraid of boiling water," kept a mischievous smirk on his face as he continued his antics.
"Honestly, you... injured like this and still behaving so shamelessly." Astraea extended a slender, jade-like finger and gave Roy's forehead a playful flick.
Roy just grinned. Playing "online games" across worlds during the day and having Lady Astraea accompany him to sleep at night—life was truly divine.
