Escape to the mortal world

Chapter 1: The Birth of an Avatar

Far from the front lines where armies clashed in fire and steel, a secret citadel lay hidden beneath a permanent monsoon of bruised clouds. Inside the chamber, flickering oil lamps cast long, dancing shadows against ancient tapestries.

Niloufer lay in the throes of labor, her golden-brown hair scattered across the pillow. She was fighting an internal battle—one that required more raw courage than any sword-clash on a battlefield. Her husband, Harsha, sat beside her. His knuckles were white from the force of her grip, his amber eyes fixed on hers.

"Just a little more, Niloufer," Harsha whispered against the roar of the thunder outside. "I am right here."

Between the midwife's low hum of protective mantras, a sharp, crystalline cry suddenly pierced the air. A child was born. Outside, a massive bolt of lightning struck the citadel's spire, as if the universe itself were saluting the arrival.

The heavy oak doors groaned open. Sohrab and his wife, Shirin, who had spent the last hour pacing the stone corridor in a fever of anxiety, stumbled into the room. Their faces softened instantly at the sound of the baby's cry.

Shirin reached out, her hands shaking as she took the bundle. As she began gently wiping the birth-fluid from the infant's tiny wrist, her breath caught in her throat. She froze.

Embedded deep within the child's skin was something extraordinary—a faint, shimmering mark that pulsed with a soft, ethereal light: a serpent coiled in a perfect circle.

"Look," she whispered, tilting the baby's hand toward the lamp light.

Sohrab leaned in, his eyes widening into pools of disbelief as he recognized the ancient, sacred sigil. "So... the prophecy was true," he breathed in profound awe. "The Avatar has truly taken birth within our bloodline. The Seventh one."

"When he grows up, he will stand alongside his uncle Sam," Sohrab murmured, a radiant glow of pride illuminating his weathered features. "He will join Sam's Avatar team, and together, they will break the Asura Lord's reign once and for all.

"For a few heartbeats, the chaos of the outside world felt a lifetime away. But the momentary peace shattered like thin glass.

Sohrab's veteran instincts, honed by years of surviving the unthinkable, suddenly flared. His gaze snapped away from the infant's peaceful face and locked onto the open balcony. The air had shifted.

He stepped out into the biting, damp evening. High above, the monsoon clouds were screaming with light. The horizon was hemorrhaging. Massive explosions from the clash between the Asura legions and the Devlok armies reflected off the storm, turning the sky into a churning sea of arterial red.

The warmth vanished from Sohrab's chest, replaced instantly by the cold knot of a soldier's fear. He turned back toward the room, his silhouette dark against the blood-red sky.

"Harsha," he said, his voice trembling with a sharp urgency. "I don't want to spoil this moment of happiness of ours, But it seemed like destiny has denied us the luxury of a even single breath of peace." He gestured toward the glass with a hand that wouldn't stop shaking. "look at the sky outside. All of Devlok is burning right now. Their flames have finally reached our doorstep"

He stepped closer, lowering his voice as if the shadows were listening. "The Dark Lord's spies are crawling through the darkness. Hunting for any spark of divinity. And we just brought the greatest threat to their existence right into this world."

The air in the room grew heavy and silent.

"If the Dark Lord's shadow succeeded to reach this nursery," Sohrab warned, his voice dropping to a gravelly rasp, "They will not waste any time to snatch the last hope of our world's future right away in front of our eyes.

"Harsha stood up from Niloufer's bedside, his jaw set with fierce determination. "As long as the companions of Devlok draw breath, the enemy will never cross this threshold."

"That is exactly my fear, my son," Sohrab said, defeat bleeding into his tone. "Our greatest warriors have already martyred themselves; their funeral pyres light up the valleys as we speak. Devlok has never been this broken. So much that it couldn't even safeguard his own Messiah.

"Harsha pulled the child close to his armored chest, feeling the small, rhythmic heartbeat. "I will not let them touch his shadow till the blood of ancients running in my veins."

Sohrab stepped forward, placing a heavy, trembling hand on Harsha's shoulder. "I understand your feelings, Harsha, but you must look at the larger picture. You are more than just a father now. You have became the custodian of Devlok's very soul.

"The Asuras have fought our kind for eons many warriors many avatars came before and gone but none were able to instilled the kind of fear this child has abled too, they fear this child. Because the prophecies have made it clear: he is the Seventh Avatar, destined to extinguish the dark shadow forever," Sohrab said, looking out at the bleeding horizon. "But as long as he remains in Devlok, the enemy will never rest. We have run out of time and power. We must send him somewhere the Dark Lord would never think to look. A place completely beyond their celestial reach.

"Niloufer, pale and trembling from the toll of labor, choked out a breath. "Where? Where would you take my son?

"Harsha went completely still, looking down at the shimmering serpent mark on the baby's wrist. The reality of their situation was as cold and heavy as stone. He mapped the cosmos in his mind until a sharp resolve flared in his eyes.

"Earth," Harsha said firmly. "The mortal world.

"A stunned, heavy silence fell over the room. Shirin clutched the baby closer. "Earth? Harsha, the mortals there... They are fragile. He would be a complete outcast among them, they would never accept him."

"Accept or not, His safety is all that matters for now," Harsha countered. "The soil of Earth may lack divine power, but it is shielded by ancient boons. The Asuras cannot breach its borders without tearing the fabric of reality. It is the one place their armies cannot march."

"But who would guard him?" Shirin pressed frantically. "We have no allies out there."

Harsha turned his gaze toward the lashing rain outside the balcony. "We have one. A warrior who chose the exile of the mortal world long ago.

A tired, knowing smile flickered on Niloufer's pale lips. "I know exactly who you mean, Harsha."

"You always did, my love," Harsha nodded softly, "Yes the warrior am talking about is non other than 'Nandvarman'. Once the finest blade Devlok ever produced.

The gravity of the plan sank in like a stone in a well. Sohrab and his wife shared a look of pure disbelief.

"Shirin gasped. "Nand? He turned his back on Devlok years ago after he couldn't handle just a few words of criticism for his own disastrous decision he which eventually backfired which later Devlok had to pay heavily after, so he just simply run away leaving everything behind to live like a simple mortal on earth, instead of ever trying redemption. So now after all this why would he shatter his silence and step back into this nightmare for a world he had already abandoned?"

"The allegations upon him aren't true but i don't have time to explain you anything but just knew this, The Nand I knew never ignored a soul in need, i don't care what others think about him or knew because no one knows him better than me," Harsha said, his voice a steady anchor against the rising panic. "And before he left, He promised me that if the day ever came where I truly needed him, he would be the one i can trust upon the most. Nand does not break his words."

The words had barely left his lips when a bone-jarring explosion roared directly above the citadel. The heavy floorboards buckled, throwing them to their knees.

Before they could draw breath, a second strike slammed into the spire. The violent shock snuffed out the oil lamps, plunging the room into darkness lit only by the eerie, blood-red glow of the war bleeding through the balcony.

Niloufer shrieked in terror as dust and ancient plaster rained down.

Harsha rushed to the balcony. The massive crystalline barrier that had hidden the mountain was shattered. Thousands of flying demons and winged dragons, ridden by Asura knights, were pouring through the breach like a plague of locusts. Their manic laughter echoed through the thunder.

"They found us! The Asuras are finally here!" Sohrab roared, drawing his celestial blade. The steel hummed with a desperate blue flame. "Take the child, Harsha! Escape to the mortal world! I believe on your words. My men and I will buy you every second we can!"

Shirin stepped forward, desperately placing the infant into a sacred basket woven from enchanted lotus fibers. The lotus strands awakened, pulsing with a soft golden light that folded inward around the child, forming a protective, luminous cocoon.

"Let me hold him! Just once!" Niloufer wept from the bed, her voice a thin thread of heartbreak.

Harsha scooped the baby from the basket for one final, agonizing second, placing him in his mother's trembling arms. Niloufer pressed the infant tightly to her chest, tears slipping down her cheeks as the child looked back at her with innocent curiosity.

"Forgive me, my daughter," Sohrab begged, his veteran eyes tracking the shadows moving down the corridor. "But time is slipping away from our hands! Hand him back!"

Niloufer pressed a fierce kiss to her son's forehead and handed him to Harsha. Harsha knelt, kissing his wife's brow in a silent, tear-filled promise to keep their boy alive.

"May we all live a peaceful life together in another life." Shirin prayed silently with tears in her eyes.

Sohrab gripped Harsha's shoulder one last time, his voice a resonant whisper over the approaching screams. "You bear the future of all creation in your hands, my son. Protect him at all cost!"

"With my life, Father," Harsha vowed.

Outside, the first wave of Asuras crashed onto the battlements. Fireballs rained from the sky, turning the monsoon rain into scalding steam as the heavy oak doors of the nursery began to splinter under demonic axes.

Harsha didn't look back, He tucked the basket under his arm and sprinted toward the secret passage that led to a rift teleporting him into a secret location.

Behind him, the world was about to burn. his family drew their weapons to face the slaughter. But in his arms, he carried the "Seed of Devlok"—the Seventh Avatar.

The war for Devlok had begun, but its only hope was escaping into the shadows of Earth.
